DAIKAIJUMAN: THE KAMEN WRITER Ahoy, mateys! I'm finally doing it. The thread where I will be sharing my upcoming projects. Now, I've had this in mind for a while, but wasn't sure how to really go about it, since I've had some concerns with how I'll even do it, or even if I find time to do it. Some of them being my art, which some will include my own signature, my real name, being as that I live in constant fear that someone could just as easily steal my art (which to be fair, probably doesn't matter since some big companies have been tracing over other art, so it's a little pointless), or even putting this on "Fan Art and Fan Fiction" when it will mostly be original stuff. Maybe some people have noticed (or maybe not, which is fine, I'm doing this mostly for me) that I want to make a Comic/Manga, but that's going to be a long, long road and the project I have in mind is still in planning. But maybe doing it here, I can even get feedback and ideas on building it, since I've been doing everything by myself. But that's assuming anyone is interested, which I don't mind if nobody does, I'm not forcing anyone. So, to sum up: I'm making a Toku-inspired Comic/Manga. I don't know if this thread will be very active (I work slowly, and have a ton of stuff going on in life), or even if this is a good idea to begin with, but I'm going to give it a shot, and if anyone does find interest, I hope people will enjoy the insanity I'm going to create, since I want to create something people might enjoy. I'll probably post some details and art down the road, maybe learn to get better on using this platform (probably make a signature advertising my work, or something), but if for now, I begin (well, not really, since I've been working on this for years) my creative journey in this thread, and to anyone joining in, I hope you enjoy it! |

PROJECT: AEGIS (Working Title) This will be my main project on this thread (maybe my only project, depending how I go about this), a Tokusatsu-Inspired Comic/Manga. The Tokusatsu speaks for itself, the Manga/Anime influence is mostly from Shounen works like One Piece, Black Clover, etc. since I enjoy both, and the two are basically perfect for each other. So, I'm only going to talk some small details here since I'm still working on it and something for a signature and maybe even a penname for my art. Now, Tokusatsu, we know is for special effects heavy live action works, but the thing I'm taking away here, is that of Henshin Heroes. Ultraman, Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, and the like. So, there will be people transforming into armored heroes and the like, complete with absurd motifs and themes, which will serve as some of the main focus in this project. There will also be lots of easter eggs and references to Tokusatsu works, because I enjoy them so much. If I had to make a comparison of what this would be similar to, it would be something like "One Punch man (for the series' world, not OP hero beating everyone), Hero Factory, and a bit of Kamen Rider Build," though, I'm still working on it, this is the best I can come up with at this moment. So, some details I'm going to share right now, is that there will be an in-universe Sentai, each member assigned to a certain jurisdiction, which shares inspiration from Local Heroes and One Punch Man's Hero System. Each are designated by color, hence the Sentai comparison, but unlike Sentai, each member has their own theme, like Kamen Rider in a way, and that doesn't include the other "factions." The aesthetic for the world is a mix of cyberpunk neon lights and retro science fiction (think Showa Ultraman attack teams or Johnny Quest), but most of all, I don't want to make things look overly complicated or overdesigned, which I've noticed a lot of modern things tend to do (I'm also somewhat guilty of that, so I'm trying to change that), and just because I like the aesthetic of retro science fiction. I do have an idea of the tone, a bit of deconstruction, but not overly dark, I'm not trying to make Evangelion here, I want there to be lighthearted and entertaining moments, because I know there's a strange fascination with making everything dark, gritty, and edgy, and I don't want to be one of those people. Of course, there's also things (like Marvel) that add humor just because, so I hope I don't add anything forced or annoying into my work, and also trying to avoid modern superhero tropes and multiverse nonsense (more on that another time). I'll probably post art, characters, and settings later, but for now, these are just some of the things I wish to add into this project. Last edited by Daikaijuman54; 08-03-2022 at 02:45 PM.. |

In retrospect, maybe there wasn't any point to making this message.
That is all.

Well folks! I might actually be able to get started on this Manga Project soon.
I now have some possible places I can post it, so all I have to do is write it out and finalize the designs. And also come up with an official title, which I'm still working on... So, I guess next year I might have some actual progress here. And maybe I'll show off some art here, but I've been a bit paranoid, and life hasn't been all too good here lately. But I hope to have something soon.
