A new season of Desire Royal has begun, with the veterans from last round still missing.

Only saw the raw:
Buffa's new form is an interesting mishmash of stuff. It's the Fever Slot buckle to give him Zombie on both upper and lower halves, the horns from the Crushing Buffalo Raider, what I can only assume is Ja-Ou Dragon's cape, and a purple aura flows out of him every now and then. Honestly I kinda dig it, this feels like what would happen if the Showa upgrade mentality carried on to today. No hyper-mega-super-final form, no minute long jingle, no janky cgi power that gets never used again. Just: "Yeah we modded the helmet and gave him a cape, the cgi guys said they'd make him glow once or twice during the fights. Ta-da" |

So the Desire Royale hasn't actually started yet. And it's not done by Michinaga.
Actually it's not an activated thing, so Michinaga's wish turns him into an invincible Rider who can tank any kind of attacks and plow through previously superior Game Master and supporter Riders. Likely regardless of which Buckle he uses (explains the minimal changes in his looks), but using Fever Zombie out of preference. He's first shown decimating both John and Ben, apparently named Garun and Lancer respectively. I'd say they're a bit poorly handled to have their fight offscreen here, without a display of how their Rider forms look like, even if they'd obviously lose against the one that has the power to destroy all Kamen Riders. And I also'd like to see a role reversal later of Neon protecting them, but dunno. I mean the character we completely know nothing about in Kazunori Nagayama/Groovy (Lopo's helmet joins recycling), who is portrayed by Tycoon's suit actor and also uses Ninja, has more onscreen Rider time than 2 established characters before. And even Beroba of all people now points out that Michinaga is a hypocrite, doing the same thing as the worst Riders he hates, but he just brushes it off. You might not care, but you still have no right to take the moral high ground though. Otherwise, this episode does show that Michinaga is a better person than Beroba (well, almost anyone would be, even Archimedel), by how he has some sense of honor to give Neon a chance, including discouraging her from touching the ID Core, so that he doesn't have to attack her. Buffa claims to spare Neon from "death", but Buffa resorts to destroying ID Cores after beating up the Riders, and leaving them be to disappear like being eliminated, but do they actually die? He also gives back Riders' equipments to have them face him in battle. By contrast, Beroba deliberately forces Neon to remember her miserable life and have her suffer for it, just for shits and giggles. It's obviously depraved of Beroba, though as Neon said to Kyuun, she'd rather to have her be herself, and retain her true self and memories, rather than being not herself due to memories. Kyuun now properly supports her by trying to suggest what she may belong like his future world. Though Neon gets hate from those exact future audiences, so not guaranteed, but points for trying. And... the flashbacks involving the DGP only features her teamup with both wolf-themed Riders Morio (wolf in sheep's clothing) and Sae (lone wolf). Like before, some people can change with their memory wipe, and here Neon is also shown shopping with her bodyguards like ep. 10, but she seems to be happier here than even that episode (at least when confronting Irumi)? Which was what Kyuun thinks to let her be. Though perhaps Neon is a pushover still, like not assert herself where she wants for honeymoon and just gets agreeable. Indeed Neon doesn't do livestreaming when her memory and motivation got wiped, as John and Ben addressed, and when they speak to each other, it's in English, contrasting to them speaking Japanese the other times. I guess the memory wiping also happens to Sara, who didn't know why Keiwa disappeared (she directly witnessed his murder in front of her eyes), pleading for the police to look after him. And this'd mean the memory wipe (and Rider demotivating) isn't strictly happening after the DGP ends, but happens anytime Goddess of Creation grants a wish. This episode also really shows how slimy Chirami is, of which in an attempt to overthrow Buffa Musou, he'd get past Riders to fight him and retrieve the Vision Driver. Especially that he flat out admits to Tsumuri that he only wants to see entertainment in their struggles and eventual victory against an adversary. Chirami only treats the Riders as story elements instead of actual living beings. He also mistreats Tsumuri to harass her and mock her role. Chirami does indeed has bleak view of humans to think they're inherently wretched, when Buffa launches his rant again about the DGP attracting selfish bastards (which is how he still hates Riders even if there's DGP), though dunno how he got to convince all those previous Riders to fight Buffa Musou by this. He's also a coward to resort into begging for the supporters to help him or bribing Buffa in their fight. By contrast, as Kekera noted, Ziin's view has changed due to Ace. Ziin agrees to help said sniveling clown, because it'd be a mutual benefit. While previously as said here, Ziin'd just choose another Rider to support, as he only views the people in the DGP's era fodders for his entertainment, but now Ziin actually views Ace as a person, to stay loyal at him. The next (leaked) episode will have the role reversal of Kekera being the one suspicious instead, after the supporters being wary of Ziin. As Riders stronger than usual ones, Ziin and Glare2 performs better than DGP Riders against Buffa Musou, though of course still hopeless. There's some neat use of Ziin's gravity abilities to soften his landing, recover, and evade to fight back. But Buffa now can completely tank his Laser Victory, despite causing collateral damage on the surroundings, while strong enough to cause similar collateral damage in his regular stomps. Glare2 too has his worm moves as well as spinning around Buffa to choke him, but nothing affects Buffa as usual. Before he finishes off Glare2 however, Ace suddenly returns in a deus ex machina-like fashion, but now targets Glare2, in his newfound goal to destroy the DGP, similar as Buffa. The reason of his return, is speculated to be the work of Sueru, or probably, Tsumuri's apparent miraculous ability like Mitsume, as an answer to the extent of what she can do outside of her navigator role. Of which both are navigators, or it seems to be the requirement and true purpose of their role. Seems that they're now finally setting something important for Tsumuri; she's not the female lead though. This episode also shows her discomfort of risking Riders' lives to prevent Chirami into futilely sending people to die. She also lacks her usual enthusiasm for enlisting people as Kamen Riders this time. She'd still performing similar thing in her DGP job before though, and overall being an accomplice to the DGP, albeit it's to a lesser degree for the former and she has more concerns compared to most other DGP staff.

Wow, Ben and John were totally screwed over. I wasn't expecting them to have big roles, but after the preview last week showed them transforming, I thought they'd at least get some proper Rider screentime before Buffa thrashed them. We don't even get to see what their suits would look like; meanwhile Kamen Rider Groovy, a character we've never even seen before, gets to actually have some on-screen time in his Rider form. Granted, Buffa still totally obliterates him within less than a minute, but still!

Well, I'm back to watching the show. General impressions:
- after the announcement of GGP, the show became much more typical, with its different characters / factions with their own interests, unreliable alliances and secrets from the past; - Takahashi said he wanted to avoid riders being cliched, but he didn't avoid his own repetitions. JGP is literally the young brother of Kamen Rider Chronicles; - Battles and effects are gorgeous; - the truth about Ace in general terms was foreseen. But given how little progress he's made in finding his mother in 2,000 years, PunkJack proves to be an incredibly important character, because without him, Ace would still be wandering in the dark; - Keiwa in all JGP (except for the last round, where he voices obvious things to Ace) can be removed and nothing will change. He didn’t even get spectacular fights, and the ninja’s abilities work according to the will of the plot. In general, I think if the show had been released ten years ago, both he and Neon would not have been riders, but simply support characters; - Revealing the truth about Neon was interesting, but I don't think that drama works, given that she was unhappy in the family. In fact, as Kyuun said, it rather unties her hands, allowing her to finally leave the house. It seems to me that this would work much better with Keiwa. Yes, and his character of a selfless hero is much more suitable for being someone else's desire. For example, Sarah, who lost her parents in the DGP, could well wish for a younger brother who would restore justice. - Also, I think the show really enjoys making Neon suffer. So much so that she already has a swollen face and always red eyes, like the heroines of dramas. It seems Sh Ranger wanted a fun female rider. Neon seems to be a mockery of this idea, because, corresponding to it at first glance, in practice it almost always cries. - Did Beroba or Nadge come up with the victory plan? Definitely not Michinaga, because he is not strong in inventions. - Was it necessary to separate the Navigator and the Game Master into two different characters? And what was the essence of Girori's character other than artificially initiating the disclosure of secrets? That is, it was his hatred of Geats that finally revealed to Ace the truth about the DGP, which he did not know for two thousand years. - Slightly disappointed that the Jamato's evolution has been reduced to them turning into consumed humans. I'd like to see them develop their own personalities. - As for the Goddess of Creation, it seems to me that the approach here is much more fair: "She is for everyone what he needs" than in the case of Giff (where this, as for me, was only a projection of the audience). For Ace, she is a mother who needs to be saved, for Niram she is a volunteer, happy with her fate. Personally, I still do not rule out the possibility that she will prove to be the final evil. According to the 33rd episode. Obviously, since riders whose ID-cores were destroyed by the Buffa "Retired" and not "Failed", they should still be alive. Most likely, their lives are being rewritten from the moment they first joined the DGP. By the way, even though Buffa prefers cuffs to words, and also still hangs around in the company of the evil Beroba, he did not at all become a tyrant in a cruel dystopia. We can say that he does not allow people to realize their dreams, but after all, Buff has forbidden only one way, unfair and rogue in its essence. Character changes also happened in regular DGP, so the show itself is to be blamed for it. In fact, he is opposed by a greedy TV man who does not want to lose views.
With that part of the audience that Kyuun embodies does not even want the revival of the DGP. Apparently, he represents those fans who are not interested in the genre, but in their favorite actors. Either way, Michinaga won't be the main villain for long, but I'm wondering how Desire Royal will turn out with Buffa and Geats determined to save his mother. I think that soon the "Main Game Master" (I'm sure it's called differently, but I'm too lazy to look) will surely take the place of the main antagonist. Thank you, Beroba, for addressing the Mammoth in the room. Though, I suppose it actually works out now that I think about it.
Anyway, Ben and John, despite getting physical on-screen forms, I still enjoy those two, especially, Ben's transformation pose. I love these guys, even if they don't get anything major. Buffa's new form, while technically not "new" is still a cool looking form. I also had a feeling we were on our way to Goddess Tsumuri after it was revealed Ace's mom was her predecessor, but I'm intrigued how, while an obvious twist which was revealed last episode, we technically have Ace and Buffa on the same page, basically working for them both to oppose the DGP, however, I doubt it'll be right away since Game Master No. 2 is the only DGP staff who can actively fight, and even if Tsumuri becomes a Rider herself, it would probably be alongside Ace. Then again, we have Game Master No. 3 hinted at us, unless it turns out it's Girori back for revenge, and maybe Niram will suddenly come back, unless he's also Game Master No. 3. It's anyone's game. Next Episode: "When can I fight on-screen again?" -Kekera

To be honest, Tsumuri's sudden importance towards the end of the show is very reminiscent of Tsukuyomi. Despite the fact that the time traveler had much more screen time and interaction with other characters.
