So I just finished the Yongou Special. It sounds like the canon ending for Faiz is that Takumi dies? Is that true?

I haven't watched the special, but I can't help but find it a little hard to believe he stayed alive that long. Call me a pessimist but I figured he would have died months after Faiz.

The way I interpreted it was that Takumi didn't die at the end of Faiz, but he did die many years later due to the time shenanigans in the Rider 4 special. I just assumed he disappeared from existence as a result from breaking the loop, rather then time retroactively writing his death at the end of Faiz.

From what I can remember from Faiz, the longest living Orphenoch in that show was Mari's "dad", the Goat Orphenoch, who lived as an Orphenoch for quite awhile, I assume.

My favorite part was always that they never said WHERE they were but Takumi always ended up in the right place. I assume the Faiz Gear has some kind of cell phone tracking capability?

Ever since Motoi Sasaki who is TV Asahi Producer was promoted to be HEAD Producer of both Ex-Aid and Kyuranger. I have a feeling it could be him because why would you approve a dark episode on CHRISTMAS DAY?!

As for Kyurangers, The villains have already successfully take over the whole universe and make them the first villain to truly success.

It seem TV Asahi folk wanted to take a risk for both Kamen Rider and Super Sentai since Toei usually don't take a risk with those shows and see them as Toy show

I also think people are placing way too much emphasis on it being Christmas. Yes they celebrate in Japan but not in the same way we do in the West. It's not even a national holiday or anything.

Also, shows pull dark/sad stuff in their Christmas specials all the time. Ex-Aid isn't unique in that regard.

Speaking of Faiz.....so, are we just to assume that the Orphnoch King and Lobster Lady are just....running around somewhere? Seriously, that show never had an ending.

What if Toei produced a STANDALONE Kamen Rider V-Cinema Movie that feel Mad Max and Heavy Metal. Would you think it will be a good idea

They did with Faiz and Kabuto which both of them were Post-Apocalypse film and why NOT do a Movie that feel Mad Max and Heavy Metal film?

They already did with Amazons which is a Standalone show that have NO connection with Kamen Rider World.

I don't think you realize what post-apocalyptic means. It means after something that devastated the planet. 555 and Kabuto had tragedies, but nothing that set back man kind. Not to mention none of the shows can really have a connection, otherwise they make zero sense as to why they wouldn't help fight Roidmudes. Personally, I don't think the setting works well in KR's favour as KR has technology as a main source of power, which post-apocalyptic movies like Mad Max simply don't really have that as much due to civilization being set back

God Speed Love was post-apocalyptic, dunno about Faiz's movie.

Faiz was sort of post apocalyptic. Orphenochs ruled the Earth and normal humans were on the brink. So there are a lot of scenes of people out in the world trying to survive. And also those places tended to look diritier and more cramped then what you normally see in Rider. Like that village Mari and Keitaro were in. But then the next shot, it looks like a normal city street, but it's all Orphenochs in thier human forms.

Sort it's sort of a weird mix of apocalyptic and not.

The entire show like Paradise Lost would be pretty awesome. Pretty rare for us to see a show where humans are actually in the minority. It would be a fun twist.

Sure it could, lost technology is a super common post-apocalypse trope, which is a perfect reason for henshin devices.

I mean, imagine a KR series like Fist of the North Star or something, just replacing acupuncture induced explosions martial arts with belts and kicking.

That sounds far better than Kamen Rider's usual setting which is just "the city" (unless its Hibiki). Rider usually doesn't have that creative of a setting, I assume because it costs more money to distinctly set it up rather than just fliming at random spots around Tokyo, and wouldn't be worth the money to maintain across a series. Movies can do it because they are much shorter self contained experiences.

I'm guessing Toei have every bit of Rider and Sentai budgeted to be as cheap as humanly possible and having your locales remain generally the same every year (mostly unchanged since Kuuga!) cuts down on fees for not only licensing space, but for paying the scouts to find said spaces.

I might need to do some rewatching of the Special and the end of Faiz. I can see him ending going back to same spot later on because well a lot of other movies make no sense if Takumi died at the end of Faiz.

None of KR makes sense if it all takes place in the same world, Roidmudes were a worldwide tragedy, Kuuga exists, the fangire who got away in 1986, etc.

That's the thing. They did more stuff in the city in the second half of Hibiki because always filming in the mountains was flippin' expensive. Getting the equipment alone out there must have been a pain in the butt.

Kuuga had no money because it was rather experimental and the brand had been on hold for a while though, so they didn't even change them for Kuuga. Most locations were Toei's standard places as well there. You still see a ton of locations they use now in Showa series shows, both Rider and Sentai.
The thing is, they're filming in Tokyo. Over a million people live there and the population density is 6,224.66/km2 (Metropolis). That's not even counting how many tourist run around there everyday, which is why Toei can only film their shows in public places very early in the morning or late at night (at best), because reserving certain spaces is pretty difficult (and most likely expensive). They do film a lot in their own studios, but of course you need more locations than that, so they have to rely on those public places.
The thing is, the budget for kids shows is relatively limited and they have more to spend money on than just locations, so of course that would be one of the points where they would try and save money. CGI is expensive as hell too and the props and costumes, especially the stuff used for stunts also needs to be replaced from time to time.

And I'm fine with that if it keeps the shows going.

While I never tried it, it might actually fun to make a location-bingo.

So there's these "King of the Crimson Castle" shorts that I just noticed I guess came along with the Kiva movie from the TVN batches. Seems to feature the Imagin...doing things, and promoting the Kiva summer movie. But I can't find any info on them on the wiki or anything so like...just, wondering, what their deal is? The wiki does say there's net movies for the summer films that year, but they're different (also, I can't find them in the TVN batches, are these Backwards-Kiva things even available online?).

There's also this Kiva Imagins thing with the Imagin in a theater, also not sure what its deal is.

Hey anyone else see two Lazer's in the character select circle that surrounds the riders when the henshin or am I just seeing things because it's hard to get a good look at that thing?

Edit: yeah there is, and there are two of ex-aid, brave, and snipe too so I think they're for the proto forms, while the two left over are for switch and maybe another rider

Kamen Rider seems to have this very loose idea of canon where they try to make it seem like they all exist in the same universe, but nothing makes any sense. Like how Ryuki is still showing up in crossover movies.

I consider any of the Spring crossover movies to be canon. So I believe the post Showa shows and before W take place in their own universe expect for Kuuga and Agito. The Winter crossovers may be canon depending how they are written. I felt like the Drive and Gaim crossover fit pretty well.

I've been thinking about Kabuto having stupidly good CGI, possibly some of the best in the series, yet we often get TERRIBLE CGI a decade later. I realized something. Kabuto was an anniversary title for the 35th. Ex-Aid has the 45th anniversary and has had lots of references to previous Riders. Think it's also gotten a big budget? Especially after Ghost

To be fair, I don't think Ex-Aid's effects are really any better on a technical level. I think they just look better because they know they look fake and decided to roll with that and go for an aesthetic that uses it rather than fights it.
