I agree wholeheartedly with this though. In terms of getting a genuine reaction out of me it the stuff I mentioned doesn't even come close. One of the most emotional scenes in Kamen Rider period. I actually knew going into W both that it happened and also that he gets better an episode later and that still didn't stop it from hitting as hard as it did. It's just that well done.

Ditto. Scissors' death was so impactful because Kobayashi and the staff showed us the most dire consequence and that they are not messing around. I mean, we had deaths before in the Showa era and post-Ryuki, but this really tops them all in my opinion because it was all about how rules and consequences can make even someone given superhuman abilities can just be easily devoured. I would have this as 1st place and
Kaixa/Kusaka's death in both the TV show and the movie as 2nd place.

It's unpopular but, for me it's Emperor from Ryuki. It came late but it really showed the stakes of the game and the fact that you just couldn't "quit". It was a great, heavy episode.

I like the sound of that. I guess kids really liked Ghost's Eyecons. I mean, those things just kept coming and coming and coming. Maybe its because Ghost was the first show I watched as it aired, but it felt like there were a fuck ton of those things...
I already knew it did better then Sentai in sales but I didn't know it did this good. This makes it even less of a surprise that Kamen Rider is getting so much more focus then Sentai is.

I think that's why you're seeing such a big change in the status quo with Kyuranger.

The thing is, Kamen Rider - it's a lot more open ended. All you need is a Driver system and the rest is kinda free reign. Sentai, conversely, needs a multiple member, color coded team, changers and a series of mechs. And that's the bare minimum, you can then get into the gender archetypes, Red-isms and other tropes that have become expected. The sum result can be pretty stale, particularly on the toy end. Sentai has a lot more baggage.

I've noticed that as well. Unlike Super Sentai, Kamen Riders are completely independent from one another. Even if they have allies, both rider and none rider, a Kamen Rider still has his own unique skills and abilities and, for the most part anyway, is still a force to be reckon with even by themselves.

Rangers, both Sentai and Power Ranger, on the other hand are exclusively team players. While the sixth ranger may have some wiggle room, a single ranger by themselves is almost no threat to any monster, no matter how powerful they are.

Heck, you can take the single, weakest ranger out of their team and, no matter how many members are still left and how powerful they're supposed to be, they'll still be steamrolled by any monster.

That's why I have such a problem with recent Sentai giving such large focus to the Red ranger. It feels as though they're taking toy ideas from Kamen Rider without reworking to fit Sentai. Why does a single member of the team need to be so much better then everyone else while the show continues to shove down our throat that, apparently, this is a team effort.

I get it, Red's the mascot of the team and he'll always get more stuff then everyone else. That doesn't mean you have to devalue every other member of the team.

I'm sorry I made such a long rant about Sentai in the Kamen Rider thread. I've just been holding that in for a while and the above comment opened a flood gate.

P.S. Take a look at the Zyuohger's arsenal. Its depressing how little the 4 Zyuman have left if you take out every item and ability shared by the team as a whole.

I think the main Rider has Boxer Rider Form as his default form (or in other word, Rider with various sports as main theme and motif), will be used in 2020 as same year as 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.

Sentai is all about teamwork, cooperation, all of that good stuff, whereas Riders are meant to be loners, or at least, a bit more individualistic. Riders frequently clash even when they're on the same team (look at Chase and Gou for most of Drive).

Take that to its absolute freakin' extreme with Faiz and Kaixa, with the latter doing everything in his power to ruin Takumi's life, if not outright trying to kill him.

On the topic of rider deaths, not sure it really hit me much emotionally, but I always thought Marika's death was harsh and really unnecessary. Especially since Zack never shows an ounce of regret for accidentally killing her.

On the topic of Lazer's death, I still can't make heads or tails of it. It was done really well, but it still just seems so pointless and out of the blue and I can't help but wonder if there was a sudden production reason for it. Maybe the actor was hard to work with? Maybe the budget meant they needed to cut him somehow? Maybe they just thought the character wouldn't be very likeable.

I was hoping the show would show that the suddenness was on purpose, that he died too early despite being billed as a major character because that's how real life is sometimes...but it really hasn't gone much of anywhere with his death other than having Emu sulk for a bit, so I'm stumped. Heck, we already know a large part of what he found out (but not all of it, such as Masamune's involvement). The only thing that I think his death has done for the show is give Brave and Snipe a bigger focus and more chances to be characters. I dunno, it' s still really weird to me.

So, I'm using TV-Nihan to watch Ex-Aid, but it said I needed a Torrent program to watch the videos. So I downloaded Utorrent. Now, every-time I scan my computer for viruses, I end up with half a dozen "tracking cookies". Also, Utorrent keeps asking for strange permissions every-time it opens. I recall something like this happening before, and when I agreed to let it operate like it asked back then, my computer DIED HORRIBLY moments later. How does one torrent Kamen Rider without getting flooded with viruses, seemingly from the PROGRAM ITSELF, and not what you're downloading? Or is there a site that hosts episodes in 1080p so I don't HAVE to Torrent?

No. Because we'd need to see the kid a lot, and kids can't act very well. It fit with ToQger because of the imagination theme

While I don't hate that idea in theory, I'm not sure if a kid protagonist would work in Kamen Rider. Even the lighter series' either deal with material that would be next to impossible for a kid to handle properly or would ask far too much for a child to go through.
