Kinda, not really no. She technically dies (and Micchy cries like a bitch) but then gets resurrected and transcends into becoming the mysterious Blonde girl from the pilot episode.

I don't think they meant plot. I think they meant why similar turn/use of events.

They only thing remotely similar is that a girl get's/has the MacGuffin and fuses with it, the rest is completely different.
