Black's a great series, but it was difficult for me to marathon due to the lack of any ongoing plot up until about the 30s.

Ryuki was my introduction to Kamen Rider and I still love it to this day.

Regarding the whole "rival" thing in Rider, IDK, I feel like we've had a decent enough break from that. Mach wasn't a rival at all in Drive and Kaito did end up becoming a legit villain. Ghost had Spectre though, but he honestly spent more of the show being a Takeru cheerleader than a rival.

So long as you aren't epileptic Black isn't too bad. The finishers are stock footage anyway so you can easily look away. It's a great show; definitely the best of all the Showa series.

Beast was one of my favorite things about Wizard. I like how Birth was since he was a nice guy, but had his own goals in mind. He was a bad guy for like one episode when he team up with the Greed and that was it.

I think a anti hero rider is fine once and a while. I'm personally getting sick of them and I think them becoming friends at the end does get old to me.

Does anyone know if the Demia song from Kamen Rider Ghost episode 43/44 was released anywhere? I've got the soundtrack, but I don't think it was one of the songs included.

Maybe it is a licensed track meaning Toei did not make it and bought the license to use it from a third party that made it.

So, I discovered a site that seems to show a couple riders not listed on the wiki! There's some other obscure stuff on there as well, but everything else seems to be on the wiki, I think.

The riders in question are Kazaya Kamen Rider, which if Google Translate is to be trusted, was an unused idea for a series about a guy who cosplays as a Kamen Rider.

The second one, which has the least amount of info, is a "Fog Rider", apparently from a novel based on J? I would assume it's probably just a showa-era style "monster copies the hero with the exact same suit" type deal.

The last one is Kamen Rider Chophopper, another stageshow rider from Kabuto, who is hilariously ugly, even for a stageshow rider, and seems to essentially be a badly repainted/remolded Zectrooper head on a basic trench coat costume with a rider belt. The picture on the site isn't very good, but you can find some better ones by Googling his name in Japanese (googling it in English pretty much just gets you this site).

Can anyone dig up any more info on these guys?

Stage shows deviate to a certain extent because the stuff they do is not necessarily canon. Which is why they can play out all the toku fan dream teams like nobody's business and sometimes include original villains/characters that are non-canon.

Because I'd personally like to see Kamen Rider Shin get an update- I think Shin's one of the coolest, most badass riders ever- because I wouldn't care if I was Decade, Fourze, 555, Kabuto, Kuuga, or frankly any of the other riders: You shed your skin and mutate into a grasshopper mutant in front of me, I'm getting the f out of your way- go do whatever ya gotta do- just don't come near me. I never watched Agito, but I would like to see Exceed Gills again- he was another very aggressive, organic, monster-like rider I also like.

I can agree, if this might be how you feel, that the riders have possibly become almost too high tech- because I've said this before: You steal their driver from them and they're done. A lot of them can't defend themselves without their driver.

You can't do shit about a mutant/organic rider, there's nothing to steal, so if Gills or Shin show up and that's your plan: You're screwed lol.

If you mean more adult storytelling, Kamen Rider Amazons is a thing and will be getting a second season.

If you mean literally everything else, then watch Ex-Aid or any other KR show, because Kamen Rider is still Kamen Rider at its core, aside from more merchandise and more modern stories not much has changed.

I'd say W was very rootsy, especially as the designers fought to keep W green instead of red as green and black are classic Rider colours

I was thinking about this today and figured I'd throw it over to you guys:

Remember the scene in 555 Paradise Lost, where Pysga tries to run away from Faiz, so Faiz turns Axel form, chases him, damages his flight pack, and Pysga crashes?

If Faiz needed Axel to keep up with Psyga's jet pack, do you think it'd be possible for Psyga to keep up with Faiz Axel without his jetpack or was the jetpack all he had?

Do you think Psyga would also need an Axel bracelet if he wanted to fight Faiz Axel without his flight pack?

I say it's the jetpack. No way anyone can run go that fast without some tool

I hate his jetpack, it's just too big- it looks practical joke big to me- I can't explain why- I just don't like it.

And I LOVE Psyga's suit design- l-o-v-e it- but remove the flight pack and he's done.

And it kind of stinks that he appears to be that vulnerable of a character, because he's exclusive to that movie, so he's supposed to be special- but he was defeated surprisingly easily.

I do plan to put my Decade's Decadriver on him with the SHF arrives- I think the matching white schemes will look good for a Decade Psyga Mode SHF. ^_^

Okay, weird thought, but are there any gimmicks that you can't really bring yourself to call a gimmick?

Like Kabuto's Cast-off or the Rouze cards, they're technically toy gimmicks, but I can't really think of them as such. Like, I can't imagine the shows without them, even if there wasn't merchandise.

I can imagine Ryuki without the cards or Gaim without the Lockseeds, they'd just have much simpler belts and such, but I really can't imagine Kabuto without Cast-Off.

Anyone else think about stuff like that? I'm kind of having trouble putting what I'm thinking into words on this one, like trying to explain color to a blind man trouble.

Depends on what you define as a gimmick. Kuuga's form changes? Ryuki without the whole 'TATAKAE WA' which even Decade and Dragon Knight kinda kept? 555's miscommunications? Hibiki's musical stuff, Fourze's switches, Drive without Mr. Belt

Would you classify those as gimmicks or common traits? Because it doesn't really set them apart of they all have it.

Form changing is a gimmick in and of itself.
However, the key difference that you're trying to convey is the toyetic nature of it.

Den-O and Kuuga's different forms are inherent to the belt. Ghost and Gaim's are not.
Kuuga changing forms needs a press of the button. For Gaim to change forms, you need to buy another lockseed. So, as a result, Kuuga's form changing doesn't come off as gimmicky.

Looking at Japanese actors I think wow Takeru Satoh has become so popular he is one of the best actors in Japan now. To think he started as a Hero named Kamen Rider Den-O.
Curious about what other actors have became or recently become popular, with getting movies or dramas that started in Kamen Rider or super sentai.

Philip's actor broke out after W, I hear he's so busy that the reason he doesn't come back to voice Philip is due to popular demand. Tendou's actor was in Black Butler's live action adaptation, wrote a book and even appeared in an American show

Joe Odagiri from what I understand is a legit actor now. Well reknowned, recognized, etc.
