I like that they switch ExAid out of the opening and replace him with Snipe. The whole blood thing at the end was out of nowhere and doesn't fit the tone of the show. It might have been better if they just did a game over or electric shock that rejects and infect that guy.

If that counts then I'll add Decade, new Kuuga, and Diend or Diend/Decade/Sea Cucumber.

The way I look at the last part is because everything is still in development and they haven't had the surgery. Yes they went through compatibility tests, but never the surgery. So this is all happening before any of that, so this probably could've been an unforseen event/side effect.

I just watched Poppy's henshin again. Am I the only one amazed by the way she can changed the tone pitch of her voice so drastically? I mean it's really cool how she does it. And I know it's probably nothing special. But to just watch and listen to her do it on screen is just so...intriguing.

So I was thinking... Is Guridon the only Rider who wears glasses in his human form? I really can't think of anyone else, but I also feel like I'm forgetting someone obvious.

Other riders do wear glasses, but he's the only one that uses them all the time, rather than just on occasion or something.

Over 40 years worth of Kamen Rider... and he's the only one? How common are glasses in Japan?

Poppy wears glasses as Asuna occasionally, but not often and certainly not since turning, so...

Alternative Zero also did, but his status as a Rider is questionable.

There may be others, but not many are coming to mind (Most of who I think of only wore glasses in, like, one scene, or they were sunglasses).
Then again, I haven't seen half the KR series, so I could be missing someone else entirely :lol

Ryoma from Gaim wore glasses briefly and Ryotaro from Den-o when he was possess by Urataros. Mashima took off his glasses to become thebee 1 time user.

Probably some underlying thought/fear of people with glasses having weaker eyes and hense aren't meant to/can't be heroes? I believe that was why CLark Kent wore glasses, to make people think he wasa lesser and nothing like his alter-ego. (Although it was always obvious...)

It's a lot simpler than that.
Glasses don't look that cool.
That's not to say glasses can't look cool, but when you have a character wearing cool glasses, why not go the full mile and have them be sunglasses for extra coolness?

I think modern comic book writers came up with the excuse that Clark Kent can hypnotize the public using his glasses in order to conceal his superhero identity. Btw Blade wore sunglasses when he kick Tsukasa/Decade's ass. He act more like Tendou than Kenzaki in his small cameo appearance.

I think everyone just picks their favorite and runs with it.

Remember, most modern Riders are played by models who were hired for their looks as much, if not more so, than for their acting ability. If any of them need corrective lenses they probably go for contacts to avoid covering any part of their pretty, pretty faces.

I hadn't thought about that but it makes sense, though I can't help but wonder just how many housewives are desperately waiting for a Megane Kamen Rider...

I know none of them would be wearing corrective lenses, but glasses as a whole can be considered part of a fashion trend or "Look."
KR Drake, for example, is a make up artist who is supposed to look chic, so glasses could've been part of his wardrobe, and they could've just been clear plastic lenses (Or empty lenses if worried about a glare, and just had him wearing a frame or something)

Gamel from Os wore glasses in Kabuto when he played a rival makeup artist to Drake.
Speaking of Drake's actor, he was also V3 in the KR Next movie too. Both of his roles are dragonfly riders. KR Ichigo from the KR First movie even made a cameo appearance in Kabuto since Kabuto was the 35th anniversary of the franchise. Too bad both movies bomb and we're back to using the old suits for the Taisen movies. KR Amazons sort of carry that darker tones again more successfully and were included in the Taisen. The only dark rider series in the main continuity are the Black, three movies from the 90's, and Kuuga/Agito.

I'm up to episode 10 of Kamen Rider Black and one of the more interesting differences that I've noticed about this show is how much more Kotaro and the Gorgom interact with the world around them. More random, unimportant civilians, and more scenes taking place in areas with at least a few more people besides the important characters. This is something that I've noticed about a lot of older tokusatsu and its something that I kind of I miss. Stuff like that make it feel as though there's a bit more... life in world around the characters.

Kuuga have that feel too, but nowadays rider series are more closer to Shonen anime where the sense of reality is gone.

Yes! That's the perfect way to describe it! Modern Tokusatsu don't really have a sense of reality. I wonder why that is? Maybe reality is just too expensive.

It's still a kids show back in the early heisei era. However, I guess they decided to tone down and remove whatever adult elements/slice of life left in the shows. Even the death scenes aren't as tragic and disturbing as it used to be. I guess their main target audiencs the kids only watch tokusatsu and shonen anime for the flashiness to avoid reality, so putting realism would turn them off.

Makes sense. I won't say deaths aren't tragic or disturbing anymore, just take a look at Genm's death in Ex-Aid, but they're usually a lot less down to earth then they used to be. I guess tokusatsu's just becoming more and more like a live action anime with each passing decade.

Ex-Aid's first major character death was pretty tragic wasn't it? Especially what he said before he was found before the others

He just vanish after getting a game over. By today's standard toku characters keep getting revive in specials or hint there's hope in reviving them just take the emotional impact away like DBZ.

Gaim had a few deaths that were permanent and one particularly gruesome one if that's what you want

Gaim is one of the rare exception of the neo-Heisei series because of Urobutcher. I don't know if you're talking about Monster Hase, Monster Yuya, Sid, or Ryoma. I remember people joking about Sid and Ryoma death are like looney toons characters. Of course, you can't expect Amazons or Kuuga level of gruesome and multiple deaths each episode. I remember most of the supporting Faiz's characters have tragic endings even the main character. I always felt that Kiriya die too early before we get to know him more. We only get a few sprinkles of his past in the episodes where he gain a new form.

Dude, spoiler that shit! But Sid had a death that was anything but cartoony, getting fucking crushed. Not to mention Kiriya couldn't avenge his friend and obviously that hit him hard in his last moments
