This is not a weekly discussion thread or a new release movie and Gaim is a series from 3+ years ago, so even Youtuber wouldn't bother to say spoiler alert. The editing and writing in Kiriya's friend story seems to be always overshadow by Emu's problem plus the episode is dominated by silliness 3/4 of the time. Not to mention he lies a few times before the writer makes him sympathetic and his screen time is too short. I hope the writer will not just make random twist again without foreshadowing, but sometimes the writers forgot about his hints or the final results is below expectations like Zyuohger.

Dude, not everyone's watched Ex-Aid, the show's only recently gone past the half way mark. "so even Youtuber wouldn't bother to say spoiler alert" doesn't even mean anything as youtube comments are infamous for being toxic. And I don't think you seem to understand the show, especially as you called Emu a Mary Sue a while ago simply because Brave and Snipe are working together with him to fight a common enemy
EDIT: Also, according to your logic, if YOU play, read or watch somthing older than 4 months, it's okay if someone spoils stuff that changes the plot heavily and you aren't allowed to complain

Don't get emotional. I'm talking about Gaim. I just felt the show empathize on those silly moments more than the actually plot, but at least is not as bad as Ghost or Kyuranger. The government might have also change their censorship guideline in younger kids show like kamen rider and dragonball super.

You just aren't making sense and potentially spoiling major plot points in shows for people. You're adding stuff that literally doesn't matter, what does tragic character death have to do with thinking a show has funny lighthearted moments? Nothing! Why would the Japanese government change the guidelines AGAIN? DBZ Kai got censored quite a bit, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure had been mocked by fans for soje ridiculous censorship involving cigarettes, etc.

I forgot to add on before you posted. Comic book forums and reddit are 90% toxic save by a few authentic AMA. Youtube isn't that bad depending on who you're watching. If you're a toku fan then you probably already seen the Christmas episode from last year. You can only blame spoiler if it's recently air. These morning kids shows are a lot more tame than the prime time action filled titans or late night ecchi anime. It have to do with it because they think is a nice twist to add a death scene in a Christmas special. Instead of focusing more on Kiriya last moments, that episode was dominated by silly poppy and her costume change riders 3/4 of the time.

A user here by the name of Dr. Kain is a toku fan. He hasn't watched Ghost or Drive yet is planning on doing so. Another user by the name of Phantom Stranger wants to watch Ex-Aid but has been pretty busy with other things and other shows. A mere 4 months isn't enough. Hell, Xenoblade Chronicles fans were angry when Smash Bros and the trailer for the 3D port spoiled major plot points. And recently is subjective anyway, though I'm certain most people would argue 4 months is still recent.
Of COURSE the shows are gonna be different in tone! Ever heard of time slots? Kamen Rider airs at... 8AM in Japan, where kids are likely to be awake and able to watch television. You can have more mature/gritty shows at 8PM because the young kids are already in bed, at 10PM there are movies for adults, etc. It's common practice for television studios around the world.

You're a hypocrite as you complained Poppy didn't get enough focus in the show, and you're an idiot if you think a show would spend 12 episodes focusing primarily on one of the 5 Riders who isn't the protagonist

Reviews aren't allowed to spoil major details during embargoes. You don't seem to know what an embargo is, not to mention that there are cases where the review embargo is done, but there's a separate embargo for plot details. I said you're an idiot if you genuinely thought they'd primarily focus on of the side characters throughout most of the show before getting sacked early on. That's not how it works as a good writer would try to balance the focus across the characters, it's why Lucky is hated by toku fans

I agree on Lucky's part, but sentai in the recent years are always lacking in the plot development. The whole buildup in Zyuohger was a huge let down if you know what I meant. *wink*

KR has always had different writers for the different shows, sometimes bringing older ones back, but Ex-Aid is unique as the main writer has done EVERY episode so far
Sentai is more of a character driven show than a plot driven one, as Kamen Rider's more plot driven so that the shows aren't too similar. Not to mention you're being odd as you don't want to spoil Zyuohger stuff despite being older than Ex-Aid. Plus, Zyuohger was considered the best show since Gokaiger by many fans

Don't you get the wink since you get offended by the spoiler easily. I disagree, Kamen rider is also a character driven show too and more characters get development than sentai. People are sick of sentai being red focus most of the time. There's a few exceptions like Ninjawhite in Kakuranger in the old era and the Gokaigers members in the recent years. But hey at least Daigo and Yamato is more likable than Takaharu and Lucky. I've been skipping Lucky's scenes since last week since it's getting so hard to watch. The episode focusing on Xiao before that was great though compare to most of the episodes aired so far.

Contrary to the random commenter joining the hate train, I enjoyed Ex-Aid a lot more than Fourze and Ghost. The comedy bits could be more subtle though. Btw don't just join in randomly just to stir some hate.

Kamen Rider has a bigger focus on story, I'm not saying it doesn't focus on their cast, but story is a bigger focus on KR than Sentai. And Yamato was VERY well received here, not to mention he didn't hog screen time, if anything, Misao was accused of this

I wouldn't have the last word if you had good arguments as those shows are the exception, not the norm. Ever since Agito, Rider has become more of a drama show. This is a fact

It becomes more of a sitcom than drama when they do those 2 parts guest of the week format with excessive goofy bits. The early heisei series are good examples of very j-drama like rider shows such as Faiz. Nowadays, neo-heisei riders are more like your typical shonen animes.

Eeeeh, I admittedly don't watch too much recent stuff other than MHA but I feel W, Drive, Gaim and Ex-Aid are unique enough and feel different. Fourze would count for sure but that show's fun so I can't be too harsh on it

It's about time since nobody care about one-off characters that rarely contribute much to the pacing of the show.
There are some badly written shows that are quite enjoyable too like Kamen Rider Kabuto. I think the show did poorly because the different writers have different opinions and writing styles that contradicts each other. You gotta love the suits.

First, I want to apologize for carelessly posting Ex-Aid rumors. Sometimes I forget that, for whatever reason, people are holding off on the show or just aren't caught up. I'll be more careful with such a recent show next time.

Second, reading some of the earlier posts here has reminded me of some the more gruesome deaths that show's had in recent years. I guess when I was thinking back to them, I was a bit more focused on the method of death, specifically the more unrealistic onces, rather then the feeling behind it. This show is a real rollercoster of emotions isn't it.

The amount of time they resurrected Exaid's friend really made his death less impactful. 3 times! I don't know about the summer or the next movie wars.

Other than the Super Hero Taisen thing, he never actually got resurrected. Hell, everyone in the GoRider squad was stated to have this in common. "Should not be in this world". And I assume the third one you meant is the Hyper Battle DVD, which had Kaito/Baron whine about being too red and Takatora/Zangetsu saying Ichigo Arms is too cute for him

I want to add that Getting flowers doesn't mean the end for them in the shows. Heck, the GREEDS came back after receiving flowers.

All the Goriders are DEAD other than the blue one, Kenzaki Kazuma. In the game Kuroto made, dead people don't have reflections, only Emu and the real Kenzaki have reflections due to Emu being alive and Kenzaki literally being unable to die. The HBDVD's plot is Emu goes into a game called Bakusou Treasure, which has Kiriya...As data, not actually resurrected

The problem is that he's constantly going from alive to dead to alive, so he can't really be resurrected as you'd need him to stay dead

Sometimes I've wondered that since Phoenix gets stronger every time he resurrects, suddenly 2000 years later or somethig he'll be strong enough to escape and the Earth will be SO SCREWED.

God, I remember Phoenix and everyone speculating that, with his revival powers, he'd end up being the final baddie and eventually return.

Japan's standers have changed over time. The early 2000's still allow blood and more serious themes in kids shows. It's not with Toku, but with anime too. Compare Current Shonen Jump to old school Shonen Jump from the late 70's-mid 90's that the titles are not as dark and violent compare to First of the North Star, Jojo, Space Adventure Cobra, City Hunter and Baoh.

Shonen Jump is aim to younger kids and they use to get away with stuff like this (WARNING BLOOD!!)

Not to mention Toku shows and movies aim to kids use to get away with monsters getting rip in half or have blood come out them too. I do miss those days, but sadly it seems like Japan has became strict on content for kids media similar how the US is.

The funny thing is that sex is pretty taboo in America, but violence is more taboo than sex in Japan iirc

A very, very, very common reoccurring theme in toku is a pervy dude trying to grope the female characters. It's more common in Sentai, but still, it's using attempted molestation as a joke (Granted, the punchline is usually slapstick humor happening to the perv).

Wizard had Rinko get sexually harassed by her boss before he got arrested by her colleagues iirc

Actually, now that I think of it, Ex-Aid's first big bad was outright called a bioterrorist and confirmed to have killed 1000s iirc. That's surprisingly dark for a kids show

I'm very aware of the pervy dude trope. I'm just never very sure how far they're allowed to go. Sexually humor seems to be a pretty big part of Japanese comedy though, even in stuff aimed at children.

Anyone else find it quite ironic that Ex-Aid is more about death then Ghost, where the main character was actual dead? Granted, Ex-Aid is also doctor themed but...

That reminds me of some gag subs for the Genm special, "It takes two to mango!", "CHANBARA BARA CHANBARA", but the Ghost Gamer jingle was done as merely this
