Without spoiling anything, which Rider or Sentai series should I watch for my reaction channel? Now that summer has hit I can do more than just Ex-aid and Kyuranger, so what will it be? I was thinking Faiz and Abaranger, but I wanna hear what everybody else thinks before I just do it. I'd prefer something from the Early Heisei Era for Kamen Rider and maybe something in the middle for Super Sentai. Alright, what do you guys want?

Never. :cry |
Haven't watched anything Kamen Rider since Ghost ended except Amazons.
So if I wanted to catch up, what all has come out Ex-Aid and crossover wise? |
Quote:
So far Ex-Aid's crossovers include Heisei Generations (takes place before the Christmas special) and the new Super Hero Taisen. If you meant spinoffs, there's Brave's thing nobody seems to have, Snipe Episode 0 and Genm Legend Rider Stage |

Heisei Generations is the Pac-Man one right? |

Hopefully it Ex-Aid hasn't been overhyped to the point where it hampers your enjoyment of it Electric Turahk. That can be the issue with fandoms sometimes.

-Virtual Operations: 5 shorts, about 3 minutes each. Not essential, but provide some context to the early show. The first short is after episode 1, the remaining four after episodes 3, 4, 5 and 6. I think at this point only TV-Nihon has completed them. -Heisei Generations: Yeah, that's the crossover movie with Ghost, and Pac-Man. It's set after episode 10, I believe. Over-Time has it. -Kamen Rider Genm: A series of three shorts about Legend Gashats, set after the Heisei Generations movie. I had some other stuff written down here but honestly I'm not sure about the sub situation with these anymore. TV-Nihon has them, and I think that may be it? Another subber did the first two, but it looks like those releases may have died with Nyaa. - Kamen Rider Brave: One special, about a single episode's length. It's not really set anywhere concrete continuity-wise but it may be worth watching at some point before episode 19. Once again, I believe TV-Nihon is the only option. -Kamen Rider Snipe: Episode 0: The Blu-Ray specials, though only the first episode is out now. It's set sometime before episode 23, probably best watched after episode 20? Couple of options for this one, including Excite, the main sub group you'll probably go with? -Chou Super Hero Taisen: The spring movie, we don't have it, of course. Probably set after episode 23. -Kamen Sentai GoRider: Three episode mini-series, set after CSHT, but the movie is not required watching. Set after 23, very worth watching. Has spoilers for Agito, Blade, and Gaim, though, so keep that in mind. TV-Nihon. -Kamen Rider Lazer: That's the Hyper Battle Video. It's out by now, but we don't have as much as a raw of it. Apparently set between episodes 23 and 28, useless as that information is at the moment. And...I think that's it? There's a bunch, to be sure. |

So, for anybody who has seen Decade...basically, what's it like? How does it handle the previous Riders? How MOTW is it? If it's MOTW, does each MOTW plot take place inside the previous Rider universes? Will it spoil anything from the previous Rider shows (even if they're AU versions of the previous Riders, it still could spoil major twists or reveals)? When I tried watching Gokaiger, I felt like my lack of familiarity with some of the returning characters was holding me back from enjoying the series to its fullest extent. If the only pre-Decade Rider series I've seen is Kiva, will I have that same issue? I hear a lot of people complain about Decade, what exactly is wrong with it? Anything I should keep in mind?
Sorry, that was a lot of questions :lol |

It's been awhile since I watched it, but I believe the only show that it really spoils is Faiz. All of the worlds are aggressively different from the original series so there's nothing to really spoil here - on Decade one guy was Agito, G3, and Gills instead of having those be separate characters, for example. With Faiz world it's again completely different (high school drama instead of young adult soap opera), but it does still include something about the main Rider that was a huge plot twist in the original series. As far as what's wrong with it, Decade had some behind-the-scenes issues with the writing staff. Not Hibiki level bad, but it changed writers partway through and it's pretty clear that the new guy a) had no idea what the original plan was and 2) didn't give a damn. The show's ending is a huge mess that leaves a lot of stuff unexplained and all of the follow-up appearances by Decade only made things more confusing. It's an incredibly fun show* if you can turn your brain off and just enjoy the spectacle. If you try to get seriously invested in the story it's just going to leave you confused and annoyed. * I am biased here because Decade was my initial gateway into Kamen Rider. |

Ok, I honestly think that you'll enjoy Decade more NOT having seen any of the other pre-Decade Heisei series. I'm not sure they directly spoil as the versions are so oblique, they won't make any sense and a few have plot points never taken their parent series. Decade is more Rider of the Week over MotW. There are two main issues I have with Decade: 1. Great premise it never lives up to 2. 2nd worst series ending ever due to to number 1. Only beat by Faiz. Faiz is a bit cruel to the viewer. Decade almost feels like they just ran out of money (it's only 30 some odd episodes long). I think you'll like it - got problems, but it's ultimately pretty entertaining. Better than Kiva, imo. |
Thanks all. I know I don't have to see everything, just usually like to, so it's nice to have a list to reference.

*slight exaggeration because really, you can watch as much Black in one sitting as you'd like the Faiz-part is true though |

Anyone else besides me upset that fans were crybabies and complaining about Kiriya being killed off the show and they had to just bring him back for those people to be happy?
|

Considering how the show's only had a SINGLE writer I think he was planned to get brought back all along. Plus, the suit's still very unique with some forms, and those take time to make. Baron Lemon Energy Arms and a character death prevention in Gaim were cases of that though |

It seems absolutetly intended for the continue to exist, since they planned to bring Kuroto back as an ally and of course as motivation or Hiiro to resurrect his girlfriend. The fan reaction is just a bonus I think, they would've done it regardless. |
Spoiler police! :lolol

Considering it's a show about video games, an extra life is to be expected.

Really though, I don't really get the complaint about something being done to please fans in any sort of fiction.
There's an argument that can be made about something being done to appeal to the audience v.s. the artistic integrity of the creative team, but ultimately, as a fan, I feel we should be honored when something is done for us, so long as it makes sense within the context of the story and doesn't ruin anything. Bringing Kiriya back might be a move for the fans, but I also have enough confidence in Ex-Aid's writing that they'll make it work. |
Honestly I feel like a lot of the surprises Ex-Aid has thrown up lately have all been pulled out at the last minute but the writing has made them all work. That's the sign of a pretty good series IMO.

I haven't actually watched the movie yet myself, I just know these things happen. It may be worth holding off on it, but it's up to you. |
Wow damn thanks for the spoilers dickwad. The newest episode isn't even subbed yet...
Quote:
Well, by MotW I just meant each episode gives us a new scenario, where each new scenario involves a new previous Rider. Because if so...that sounds awesome. I've heard that the alt universe versions are wildly different, but I just wanted to avoid any general spoilers, such as characters that are dead being referenced as being dead, any twists revealed (Ex-Aid spoiler)such as Emu having the bugster virus or anything like that. Plus I just love the suit Quote:

Just wondering, what's up with Amazon Neo's black legs? It looks meh. Would've preferred if they continued the blue color.

I seriously, hugely, massively doubt that a single thing that's happened in Ex-Aid so far wasn't planned out to some extent. Nearly every little detail turns out to mean something that seems obvious in retrospect and very little is ever forgotten about. Parad was copying Emu's "dai henshin" bit for a whopping 15 episodes before it suddenly became relevant why he didn't have his own phrase like everyone else. That guy from the stupid episode about a hamburger monster shows up later to give Ex-Aid a new toy. Even the Proto Mighty Action X Gashat not being black turned out to have some significance. It's almost kind of arrogant to assume that bringing Kiriya back has anything to do with what the fans want. There's just way too much of the narrative building it up for that to be something they just casually tossed in without it being part of the plan, right down to the actual way he "died" in the first place. I mean, I like to be a jerk and find fault in Ex-Aid wherever I can, but come on guys, it's way too smart to just write in plot developments for the heck of it. And if it is, it's way too clever to not work them in seamlessly. |

Has Taddle Fantasy been confirmed to be showing up in Ex-Aid proper, or is it just a movie thing. Haven't really seen confirmation one way or another.
