They were bouncing around buildings and even in space like it was nothing, and I'm not exactly sure how to put this: Either their fight lasted 500 years or their bodies, which eventually turned to stone, became statues for 500 years- until they woke up, took 1 final strike at each other- and that's the last thing you see.

But Akuma definitely possesses speed capable of rivaling somebody like, I would think, at least Go Buster Red- and Go Buster Red is supposedly equal to Kabuto- which means Akuma's speed is potentially equal to Clock Up. Possibly.

So how far in advance are Kamen Rider series filmed?

I assume at least 5-6 weeks? But this seems to be the same for sentai shows as well.

Well because of leaked photos for Build we know it's done at least 2 months in advance and Heart's actor tweeted that he was sad filming had wrapped up about a month or two before Drive ended

Ya, if I recall correctly, the common general consenses was that about 5-7 episodes are filmed in advance.

No. As I remember, the darker tone turned off some viewers but the toy sales were really good.

I'm going off memory and second hand information here, but from what I remember hearing the turn-off was also due to the show being so heavily serialised that there was a big drop-off from people who couldn't catch the episodes on a regular basis.

One turn off looking back were the crossovers. Personally I dont mind it too much but I remember folks complaining about them.

Hey would a an amazons style adaption of super-1 work with the tone of Tom Morrow/ a superman reconstruction?

I much prefer BLACK or a conclusion to Shin. If I had my way definitely would want a live action adaptation of the Kamen Rider BLACK manga. Because having read the first volume of the manga I would LOVE to see that rendition of BLACK in live action. We had a somewhat look-alike/tribute to it briefly in episode 1 but I want to see it it do more than just stumble out of some rubble and become the TV version.

I wish female kamen riders would get the spotlight for once.

How would you make a female rider series?

Amazons had a pretty intense Female Rider story.

Poppy Pipopapos was a really great character too in Ex-Aid.

the women in Fourze (while not being Riders) were also pretty integral to the story and were arguably some of the toughest characters on the show.

Same as any other series, just with a woman in the lead role. It's as easy as that. But since Kamen Rider is a (arguably very well written and produced) toy advertisement for boys they don’t want to take the risk of alienating their primary audience, and I kind of understand that. I don’t like it, but I understand it.

What Rider are we talking about here? If you mean Iyu, she's no Rider.

It is, however, pretty laughable how many excuses Toei will make for a competent female character not becoming a Rider.

She's an Amazons who wears a henshin device on her arm.

I thought of her as a Rider.

her and Alpha were my favorite Amazonz. I loved how she got better and better at fighting until that great fight in the kitchen towards the end of the series.

That failed Henshin attempt physically hurt me when I watched it.

They could’ve easily kicked out that stupid Gou-character and had Kiriko become Mach instead, that would’ve been much better for the plot anyways. But no, we totally needed a character that appears out of nowhere and fights with the main hero for no reason.

At least Poppy was good. Even though her Rider-form was criminally underused.

She isn't classified as one and that makes sense to me, because if she counts then so would Mamoru.

If you want to think of her as a Rider then I can't (and don’t want to) stop you but last time I’ve looked she wasn’t officially a Rider.

Which Kamen Rider movies are the best?

Poppy not ever using her Rider form I think is arguably worse than if she had no Rider form at all since the show has effectively given her the capabilities to do more yet still insist on making her do the same Rider heroine shtick. Like if they just have a throwaway line saying she doesn't like using her Rider form, then fine but the show doesn't to my knowledge.

That sucks.

There's gotta be some good themes that can make a female rider series. Amazons felt mature & bloody & gory.

Someone needs to fight the system and give women the rights to be respected as riders too.

I picture the three Japanese girls from K-Pop girl group TWICE to take up the role of a rider.

W A to Z and Drive Surprise Future were pretty good. Also like Movie War MegaMAX a kot

In my head, I always tried to write it off as her being the Bugster of a nonviolent game so she prefers not to fight if she doesn't have to, but the the scene where she basically pushes Hiiro and Taiga aside to fight a Bugster throws a wrench in that theory.

A thought just occurred to me.


I haven't seen every Rider series and I could also be remembering other series that I have seen wrong, but is Mitsuzane the first Rider to have a genuine face-heel turn story arc? As in a character that starts off as a full-blown hero and ally and straight up becomes a bad guy, without the involvement of any brainwashing, possession or being misdirected by the villains.

I can think of others that started off in an antagonistic role, but I can't think of anyone who started as a straight up ally and switched sides purely by their own free will.

Well, there’s always Kusaka, but it’s hard to say how much he was ever an ally to begin with. He was definitely acting on his own, douchey free will, though.
