But for real, I always assumed that Zolda getting the Minotaur was representative of Asakura's' obsession with Kitauka. IIRC in Greek Mythology, the Minotaur was seen as an abomination and a huge goal for a Greek Hero to kill. Theseus' killing of the Minotaur(and his betrayal of his comrades after) is what secured the throne for him. And yeah, killing Kitaoka became a very coveted goal for Asakura, and had things gone his way, Asakura would definitely have won the Rider War should he had ever succeeded in killing Kitaoka. The sound and power of the Minotaur is also often thought to be inspired by earthquakes, which End of the World definitely showcases. |

Very apprehensive about starting Hibiki, how far of a difference is it where it started and where the behind the scenes stuff changed?

also hi switchblade. |
I did at least like the second opening despite how late Hibiki went, I think what I hated the most was Akira Fuse's character in those couple of episodes if that counts as late!
|
The first half of Hibiki is some quality stuff, very much worth watching, and the last episode of the original crew actually has a nice ending.
|
Which final form ride did Decade use the most?
I'm actually wondering what "vehicle" other than his bike did he use the most? Is it Agito? |

Hey is Kamihoriuchi Kazuya (is that the proper syntax for his name?) still doing stuff with toei or has he moved on to different things?

Hey do you think Nazca/ Sudo Kirihiko would've got a V-Cinema had double got a third one? What do you think it would've been like?
|

But jokes aside sucks Kamen Rider Nazca is not a thing. I still would have liked to see it even if it probably would be a retooled spare Double or Accel suit. |
So, when I watched the Ryuki Special: 13 Riders, there's something that bothered me.
During the big climactic battle scene, there's a scene when the spider monster (Mispider) appeared out of nowhere and captured Gai with a string shot. As it pulled Gai, a calm female voice can be heard saying, "Let go." .....who the hell was that? The only female character present in the scene was Femme, but it's clearly not her voice nor that it'd makes sense for her to say that considering the circumstances. So yeah, it's a mystery to me. |

I'd like to see a Bicrossers-like KR show.

Who do you consider to be the main secondary rider in OOO? Date, who had a longer tenure as Birth, or Gotou, who was a main cast member for far longer and was Birth by the end?

Still, I was mostly curious since Date did wear the suit for twice as long, I think, so I was wondering if that gave him any edge. |
Gotou is very much the secondary rider for me. The moment he and Date meet you know things are laid out for him to become Birth and you're just anticipating that moment he meets his destiny. Date is a wonderful character and I'm glad he grabbed the Proto belt, but he makes it very clear he's just filling in for the guy!
|
The main secondary Rider in OOO is Birth. I'm not even trying to make a wisecrack there, it's just, I really feel like picking either one as the "definitive" version does no credit to how well both of those characters came across, and what they added to the show as well as each other. Date and Gotou are inseparable to me.
Like, which one do I like more? It's Gotou, in a heartbeat, but that doesn't make him somehow more Birth. There's a real proper lineage going on with Birth I don't think exists with any other Rider identity with multiple users. |
So a big theme in Kamen Rider is using the powers of evil for good, whether being created by the villains (The OG), or turning what would tools of destruction into a force of good (Kabuto, Den-O, etc)
So I was wondering, how many series feature a protagonist that doesn't have a direct connection to the villain, mainly power wise. Like, the only one I can think of is Agito, since Agito was made to counter the Lords, but otherwise, I can't think of many (Especially since I have borderline no knowledge on Showa) |

X is just some pre-existing thing Keisuke's dad is working on till GOD shows up and 'politely' asks him to give it to them. He does not.
|
G3/-X is a 100% technological manmade creation with nothing taken from the unknown, the Agito or otherwise; the biggest influence just being “it looks like Kuuga”. Tragically, this is why it sucks!
Same deal with Ixa, now with 100% more Catholicism |
I did at least like the transformation of G3 how he literally puts on the suit, not sure if Metal Heroes did it first though!

X: The technology that created him came entirely from his father; the bad guys were after it though. Amazon: His power-source was given to him so he could protect it from the evil organization Super-1: As has been mentioned already, his powers were made for space exploration. J: Is given power by the Earth Spirits to fight against the alien invaders. Agito, you mentioned that one yourself. Blade: Maybe? Maybe not? The cards are technically the bad guys? Hibiki: He's just a demon; he didn’t really gain his power from anyone. Den-O: Uses a system that incorporates Imagin but wasn't developed by them so I think he counts. And with Phase II... wow, there's not a lot here, huh? Maybe Ex-Aid? Zi-O, kind of? I haven’t watched Fourze so I can’t say if his switches are connected to the baddies somehow. Wizard uses magic stones sometimes given by the evil guy but magic isn’t inherently evil so him too? Zero-One counts though, the Progrise Keys were made to counter the Ark. |
No no, a lot of those examples very much count.
As the overlords were once the same entity and are just two sides of the same coin, the Lords and the Agito very much have the same basis. The Rouse Cards being the monsters is as literal as you can get, but even beyond that the belts are directly based on Joker’s belt. We don’t know much about Den-O’s belt but, yeah, it is quite literally kaijin in a rider suit vs kaijin. Heisei 2 is littered with examples. Dopants, Greeed, Zodiarts, Roidmudes and Ganma all use or are made of the Riders’ gimmick items; the Wizard riders all have phantoms inside of them; Lockseeds originate from Hellheim; everything in Build is rooted in nebula gas and Evol’s machinations. Ex-Aid is a bit iffier but Emu is able to henshin at all due to having game virus, and the momsters all originate from Gashats. This is also the season where evil Riders really started to take over as the main villains, so make of that what you will. As for Zi-O, the Another Riders are made from corrupted Ridewatches and arguably the main villain is Sougo’s future self. The Progrise Keys may have been made to counter the Ark but Ark and Zea are two sides of the same coin and keys get used by both MBJR and Thouser. |
Den-O is a technicality. Den-O's powers come from Ryoutaro being a singularity point, but in the series proper, everyone who transforms uses an Imagin as an aide.
So it's skirting a line since he doesn't need the Imagin, but he never gets results without them. Also, I was wondering. Switches. Fourze uses them, the Zodiarts use them. But are they really similar in powers or just similar in gimmick? It's not as closely knit as Gaia Memories and Medals were in the proceeding series. Are the Switches in Fourze really tied to the villains? (Note: I haven't watched Fourze since it's aired, so it's been a while) |
Quote:
|
Yes, both Switches come from the same source.
|
I was wondering, when you picture Hikawa/the secondary Rider from Agito, do you see him as G3, or G3-X?
Personally, when I think Agito, I think G3-X since that design had a stronger lasting impression on me, but G3 was around for quite some time (Even debuting before Agito himself), so I was wondering. |
