This too. I always worry since these kinds of stories are now extremely common now, that I can't help but feel a little concerned.

All that said, I don't think what they want to do with this is bad or anything, but I'm also not sure how I feel about it. Sure, we got some idea of where this was going from the initial teaser, and this one was probably to show off "the bad guys," I feel like the suit action will be the highlight for me. It's just the very different take on Black and the story it's leaning towards make me hesitant.

And this is coming from someone who hasn't seen (much) of the original Black.

Depending on how I feel, I may see this when it drops or wait until after I watch the Original Black.

What does any of this have to do with Kamen Rider Black?

It's almost like they were making an original Kamen Rider idea and Toei forced the Black name on it last second.

Really not feeling this. Seems too dark and overly serious. I remember checking out of Amazons real quick and it wasn't as dark as this.

I’m interested for sure. As many have already said in this forum, this seems to be taking the Amazons approach in that it’s only loosely based on the original show rather than a beat for beat remake of it. So far from what can be seen in the trailers, it seems to just be pulling aesthetics (black sun being a black bugman, shadow moon being a silver bugman, and battle hopper being grasshopper themed) from the original show and that black sun and shadow moon are destined to clash and oppose each other. Although here it appears to be due to ideology rather than the century king stuff from the original.

I don't think so. I think it's just that whoever is in charge, when given the opportunity to make a new Black property, opted to focus on the brother vs brother story over Golgom and the Century King stuff. Just use the Kaijin protests as a catalyst to trigger their animosity (Rather than Shadow Moon being brainwashed).

That said, I am not sure how much they'll focus on the "Kaijin rights" thing.

Toei has been trying to diversify Rider projects. We got Fuuto PI an animated series, upcoming Shin Kamen Rider movie which is the most Showa thing in recent memory, and still have the mainline toy-selling entry, I think its okay for Black Sun to try something new and different.

Is the problem most people have just the fact that its re-using the Black moniker?

After First, Next and Amazons, this should not be a problem and surprise anyone. So, did anyone really want to see just an abridged version of the '88 show with updated costumes and special effects?

There are going to be people that say yes to that. I can guarantee that. May be not here, but they're out there. Lol!

I mean, people *adore* Black so it's not weird to see people unhappy with a wildly different direction. Apparantly it's more in line with the manga but I wouldn't know

If it's anything like Amazons, I'm down for it.
