I don’t know any of the other names off hand, but I’m a huge fan of Taguchi’s work on Ultraman. This alone is fantastic news for Black Sun.

Shinji Higuchi is also a bit of a tokusatsu legend. He directed the special effects for the Heisei Gamera trilogy, co-directed Shin Godzilla with Anno, directed the live action Attack on Titan movies, and just finished directing Shin Ultraman.

Shiraishi also interviewed both Higuchi and Taguchi, and although my Japanese is pretty bad, it looks like some of the rough creature designs that Higuchi drew for the series are also displayed.

Shin Rider is the movie. Black Sun is going to be a little similar to Amazons. Only question is where they will air it.
