I agree with you there. A good starting point would be something that doesn't do anything crazy, but is still enjoyable. I think OOO would be a good choice in that respect.

I gave up incredibly early (Ep 5), so my opinion might be completely contrary to how the show is at it's current point.
But I disliked it because of the excessive time spent on the secondary cast (They felt like a less endearing KRC), the main cast being rather dry (Shinnosuke and what's her name felt so cookie cutter in terms of character. Lazy slacker who is actually a genius when he puts effort in and a no nonsense partner? It felt like I've watched that kind of series before). The history was rather interesting with Proto-Drive, the time stopping event, etc, but the characters that we had to follow to unravel the mysteries just weren't doing it for me.

It's not that I gave up, I just stopped watching. I still like the base design and Chase's too. I just have no drive, (PUN!), to pick up again.

I'm not a big fan of Drive, but I will finish it.

I have a question too: I'm about to wrap up Kuuga and start Agito. I have all episodes ready, plus the "A New Transformation" TV special and the "Project G4" movie.

Question is: Do these play a part in the story and is it recommended to watch them between certain episodes? Or after I finish the main show? I know the TV-Special aired between episodes 35 and 36, is that when I should watch it? And what about the movie?

I would try and watch them in specials within the places they appear, it makes them feel more connected since the tv special also connects to the movie and they are the only pre decade era movies that are canon to the tv series.

That was pretty scary circa 2002

The special is loosely canonical; there are some minor conflicts with the tv series, but it is the main story where we see how Shouichi first accesses Shining Form. The movie is never explicitly referred to in the show, but isn't an obvious AU like Ryuki or Gaim. It's pretty fun and has a very cool surprise cameo in it.
