I just started up college again and will likely be joining the anime club. If it's anything like the last anime club I was in, we'll be watching a bunch of first episodes. I was thinking about suggesting an episode of Kamen Rider, but I need help deciding.

I mean, that's not the only reason I'm asking this question - it's something I've wondered for a while - but it was what really motivated me to actually go out and post it.

Well if that's the case it probably comes down to what the crowd's tastes are like. I think the only first episodes that you'd particularly want to stay away from are, maybe Agito because it's all setup, Blade because lol early Blade, and W because it's not that great (the episode I mean, not the show).

Also, is the intent that whatever you guys like you keep watching? Because something like Wizard might end up boring people in the long run. I hate to be Mr. Obvious but why not Gaim? It's got the Urobuchi-hype for anime fans and it puts the "drug" in gateway-drug. Once you hook someone on that show, they're hooked until the very end.

Well, last time I made people watch Evangelion, Dragon Ball (not Z), and Patlabor. Some liked it, some hated it. I didn't care. But the idea here is to find an episode that catches people's interest, so a show with a really solid first episode is probably a good choice. If it fits their individual tastes, then cool. If it's not their thing, oh well

I liked Ghost's first episode. It did a good job setting the scene and getting you ready to see what came next. At least, I thought it did.

I did a live action day at my Anime & Manga club at my community college two years ago in 2014 and it turn out pretty well. I did mostly modern stuff like Kamen Rider W, Ultraman Ginga, Kyoryuger, Cellphone Investigator Seven and Garo. I also did live action TV show adaptions of Anime and Manga like Sailor Moon, Detective Conan and Ouran High School Host Club. It was better than the first time we did live action day in 2013.

It depends on your club. I remember the first time we did live action day at my Anime & Manga club in 2013, we played the original Ultrman, Kamen Rider X, Giant Robo and Japanese Spider-Man. People end up laughing and didn't take it seriously.

That's funny, I'm like the biggest Ghost apologist on this forum and I thought it had a pretty rough premiere, though it wasn't bad by any means.

You probably couldn't ask for a better crowd-pleaser than Gaim. It's got highly serialized storytelling and other stuff like that people tend to like. With something like Drive I think the viewer has to already be into it early on but Gaim actively works to pull you in with all its mysteries and whatnot.

And also it's new. Which helps. Even the first few Hesei shows are probably a bit "dated" for a lot of people, at this point. I still think it's so sad people see Japanese Spider-Man as just another wacky Japanese thing to point at and laugh, considering how influential and successful that show actually was.

Well, Ghost was the first Heisei series I started. I've seen more since then, but when I originally watched it I had nothing to compare it to aside from the original. Episode 2, however, was the one that sucked me in.

Yeah, I'm thinking Gaim would be a good choice. Now I just gotta make sure I actually can show it.

Damn it, I fixed it now. I think the modern stuff would be good. When I show Kamen Rider W, it turn out pretty well and people like it a lot.

"I'm disappointed in Riku Sanjo because I like his work from Kamen Rider W, I felt he really didn't give other Kyoryugers a chance to showcase themselves because most of Kyoryuger episodes he wrote was very Red-Centric Episodes. I know Red Ranger is supposed to be Main Hero but give others a chance! He make Daigo the Mary Sue Character! His only flaw was rubbish! He is too perfect! I think the whole sudden romance between Daigo and Amy was very unnecessary. No buildup and no hinting at all. I think Riku Sanjo is better off of writing Kamen Rider than Super Sentai"
