What the fuck was up with those early Blade episodes? Where did that locust storm in the pilot come from? Why did those pictures start on fire? Was that scene of Hajime bleeding as an evil voice talks Hajime's true Joker self breaking through Spirit's influence?

I can't properly answer, but lots of secondary riders start off as complete a-holes.
Granted, not of late, but of the series I've seen, Ryuki, Faiz, Blade (Kinda...Sorta...Eh...), Kabuto (Pre-Gatack), Kiva, Decade, Fourze, and Gaim had jerk 2nd riders.

It's just kind of a tradition :lol

Like when Beast from Wizard was first revealed in magazines. Everyone was anticipating him to be a complete dick to Haruto and thinking him to be a smug bastard. Then he turned out the be a lighthearted, lovable guy.

It subverted the idea on it's head, but the fact is that everyone was assuming from the very get go that he'd be an ass.
It's starting to get a little old. It would be nice to get more secondary riders like Beast or Gatack, rather than Ixa or Diend.

I think it's because Riderman started off as an anti-hero back in V3. It's just kind of become what Kamen Rider does.

I figured Riderman was one, but since I never watched it, I wouldn't want to make that kind of assumption.

Not just black repaints, but just straight up villainous riders. Ohja, Glaive, Arc, Baron, Caucasus, etc etc.
Either movie or in series. Just Riders who are evil.

Well then my statement remains the same. They're either hit or miss for me. Some I like and love (Kusaka, Asakura, Ryoma, Kaito) and some are uh, utterly terrible (Every one of them in Missing Ace).

For me, I think the best movie villain rider is Caucasus. I just really loved him.

Glaive, Larc, and Lance. Basically expies of Blade, Garren, and Leangle.

Now see if we're going by movie I'm going to say Kiba. I loved the way they handled his turn to being a villain way better than they did in the actual show.

It depends. I tend to take them on a situation-by-situation basis.

The question on evil riders was more for the concept of a villain being a Kamen Rider, rather than a monster.
Though it seems that, if you like them on a case by case basis, you do like the concept.
