I think it's because gold is a very regal, upper-class colour accociated with high esteem and worth, which are often not modest or humble traits, and we accociate being humble with being good, and not being humble with being bad.

That is a pretty accurate summary of Leangle's journey, but I'm not sure how relevant that is to his colors.

You're missing one. Fourze Eleki States. That was almost entirely gold, with smatterings of black.

Blade's kinda weird in the sense that the Riders' primary colors are represented by their undersuit and not their armor, mostly because 3 of the Blade riders just have silver armor.

The Missing Ace riders are a bit different in that they all have black undersuits, therefore their primary color would be the color of their armor, hence Glaive being gold.

Sure, but by virtue of Leangle being the only one with gold armor, I think it makes it a bit more of a special deal. Sure his main color is green, but the fact that he's also very gold can't be ignored. Especially since while silver is a neutral color, gold is not.

Though really questions of Kamen Riders' colors can get pretty arbitrary, since this isn't super sentai here...

The Leangle Buckle wasn't made to be evil, no. It was just made to be the strongest. Leangle was evil because the Spider Undead wasn't sealed properly (possibly because it allowed itself to get sealed, though I don't remember if they gave a specific reason why the sealing was faulty) which allowed it to influence its wearer. But regardless of reason, Leangle was still a pretty antagonistic character for much of the story, so...yeah.

Huh. I could've swore some ill intent baddies within BOARD were the ones who made the buckle. I guess I haven't seen Blade in a little while, though. :o

The belt itself was just made to be the strongest, but the Category Ace used to transform was evil.
Isaka aka Peacock Undead was the one who created the belt and he also was behind Garren sealing the Spider Undead. So technically, he made sure that the Undead wasn't properly sealed, so that whoever would use the belt was controlled by Spider and thus on the Undead's side.

I...seem to recall that the reason it wasn't sealed properly was because it threw the fight? Been a while since I've seen any Blade.

Well, yes and no. The next gen belts used in Missing Ace were designed like the Leangle buckle, but they were working with different cards. Unlike the Leangle buckle, which was designed to work with a sealed Undead, the belts used by Glaive, Larc and Lance were made to work with the Change Cerberus Rouse Card, which was an artificial card created by BOARD before the events of Missing Ace.

Spider Undead let itself be sealed on purpose because it was an ally of Isaka. Due to the fact that it let Garren win instead of being actually defeated, the seal became improper, meaning the Undead sealed still had its own conciousness and could control the host aka Mutsuki.
Mutsuki ultimately defeated Spider Undead with some help of Tarantula Undead/Shima-san and Tiger Undead/Hikaru and sealed it properly so that he could control the power of Leangle.

Don't worry, I've seen the show 3 times and still have to look some details up.

Well one thing for sure Leangle was awesome because Okamoto was the suit actor and it oozed out awesomeness head to toe.
And it farted blizzards as it kicked.
The way they added the effect made it look like it was farting shaved ice.

I brought this up on Twitter. We haven't had a purely insect themed Kamen Rider since, I think, Agito. Technically before that. And the more I think about it the more I think it'll never happen again. Because it's difficult having a gimmick around insects. On that note I don't see Ghost toys out selling AC Gaim or TK Drive merch based on that. Ghost does have a Gaim feel (Changing Hoodies, Changing Armors) toy-wise. But.. I don't know.

The last completely Insect themed Rider that wasnt mixed with something else was Kabuto. Decade had an Insect theme but was also mixed with the Barcode.

In terms of toys with Ghost we have to wait and see. Gaim sold well with the Arms Change line but the Roleplay Toys didnt sell all that wel. Gaim made a bit more money than Wizard but could not get close to Fourzes sales numbers. Drive is also not selling very well at the moment for Rider standards. Drive has currently the lowest toy sales since Kiva.

Well, that's something I can never un-see.

Watched Drive 45, not in a good place right now. But it made me think. I haven't felt this bad about a KR character since Philip died (I felt during Fourze too, but I watched W after seeing Fourze. And watching Philip die was worse for me than Ankh). And that brought me to Gaim. I'm wondering if I'm the only one who usually feels when a character died yet felt nothing when someone died in Gaim. I enjoyed Gaim at the time. I was invested in the story. Yet felt nothing when something important happened. Zack's death, Mai's 'death', Micchy's Yomi Arms, and on and on. Nothing. I even felt something during Wizard when he first got Infinity and I fucking hate Wizard. But Gaim.. not a damn thing.

Hm... I was invested with Gaim, but I didn’t really feel sorry for the characters or was generally sad at one point either. But that might be me, I didn’t really cared much about Philips death in Double, because I knew he would come back. The silly "Hey bitches I'm back!" one episode afterwards made me care even less about the whole matter.

With Gaim my only real emotion was hatred for Mitchy when he was in his backstabbery-phase. Oh, and I hated Marika the whole show for the pathetic excuse of a character she was. I secretly hoped Kaito would recognize her uselessness for his new world and just kill her. Which makes me mad because her actress is just the cutest and nicest lady ever and she's so badass because she does the suit acting herself. Marika as a character though (and the suit design while we're at it)... garbage.

With Drive I had a similar feeling with Chase. He was my favorite character in the show, but when you now what happened I was just “Meh” because the whole thing just came out of nowhere, and it only serves to fuel the rage machine of a character I can't stand anyways.

I honestly didn't get upset when Kengo died near the end of Fourze. I was actually expecting it since the show was coming after W and OOO and it had already become a pattern by that point to kill off the semi-human sidekick. I think I was more upset that Yuuki didn't die.

You know, I think at least for death spoilers, it would be nice if spoiler tags could be used....

Or at the very least spoilers on plot reveal things. Like the one for Fourze which I haven't finished! :\
