I'm with Lockon on this. Plus, as much as I think Kiva is "DaWorst", it has what might be the best overall production of any Kamen Rider show I've seen - and that definitely goes for the CGI, too. With a few exceptions, it's really good.

Yeah, Ex-Aid's CG is a tiny bit of a step up from Ghost, but I really think the perception of it being notably better comes more from that people are just plain more interested in Ex-Aid to begin with, which makes it easier to brush off. The video gamey stuff looks good because it's simple (i.e. pasting a a piece of 2D text that says "HIT!"on the screen), and the more complex stuff isn't really that much better than some other recent Rider shows (there's a big dramatic shot of Ex-Aid transforming into Level 5 that looks pretty dorky in episode 13, for example).

Also, I really don't think Ghost's budget was the significant step down I keep seeing it made out to be lately. If it weren't for the use of stock footage transformations (which Ex-Aid has too) I'd say it's basically just people projecting their (totally reasonable, I swear!) distaste for Ghost onto Toei, like they deliberately wrote off the entire show at some point early on.

I totally could see there being some truth to them saving up some money for Ex-Aid, I just don't think it's significantly worse off . Most of the actual effects in Ghost are about up to snuff (again, complex stuff like Specter's Bike Fu against Ghost in episode 5 looks dorky, simple stuff like Rider Kicks looks good. Stuff like the Parkas falls somewhere in the middle), and the whole "they reused monster suits!" thing is likely just a result of over half a dozen monsters being used in standalone episodes early on instead of the usual two parters we've been getting forever now. The actual amount of unique costumes is comparable to normal, and Ex-Aid is even doing the same thing now for presumably the same reason.

That ended up being a longer post than I would've imagined but long story short:

- Ex-Aid's effects are good!
- I'm still a shameless Ghost fan! :p

To be honest, I also noticed that some scenes somewhat have a very dorky CGs, especially concerning about Hunter Gamer. Whenever Ex-Aid uses DKHZ, you could clearly see the CGs on the helmet was pretty weird and dorky and so unnatural. This is a problem with Snipe Combat Gamer and it's pretty dorky CGs too and it was even worse than Houdini Damashii's CGs or All Dragon. Still, the weight of the battle somewhat really saved those dorky scenes. I also love the "Hit" effects and despite it was simple, it really works. Not only that, they cut cost of CGs with simple big monsters and those dorky scenes, so they could save some cost for the in-battle's effects.

I agree with Fish in this case. Ghost might not be a so good series but its effects and CGs weren't so horrible at all. Grateful's effects, the Parkas' effects, and the fact they hired more actors for the Eyecon's real body, I don't think that Ghost was under budget at all. Admittedly, what kill al of those good effects were the bad choreography in the battle or maybe it wasn't the choreography but rather how predictable and lack of variety in the battle. Ghost also has so many finishers and it can't be counted on hands and I must say the finishers' variety was much better than Ex-Aid.

Actually, Ex-Aid is reusing old suits lately but I'm sure that later on this won't be a problem. Being similar to Gaim (seriously, i don't really want to compare Ex-Aid and Gaim, but it's hard to talk Ex-Aid without referring to Gaim too.), the reusing costumes for monsters weren't bad in context at all. In Gaim, Inves are treated as normal monsters and basically mooks, except for OverLords so it's understandable for them to reuse costumes. For Ex-Aid, Bugster from the previous games aren't completely dead. I mean, just like Hiiro's words, there's ton of Influenza virus in the world and killing one of them doesn't mean a total kill. They also keep evolving and a little modification, especially for Aranbura, was nice to see. For me, Ghost tried to make normal Gammas to be mooks just like Gaim, but the context that those Gammas aren't as wild as Inves made it hard to realize it.

Oh come on, no one will actually blame or hate you so much because of Ghost. Everyone has their own taste. I still love Faiz so much despite the lashing in the neighboring threads, you know.
