I remember the early 2000's Rider shows still use mostly practical effects. The CG in Kuuga is a lot smaller compare to the newer shows.

It seems like they try to avoid stuff like this on hero suits just because it's a pain to deal with and limits what you can do, they were all alternate parts anyways, seems like they rather work with light these days. But some MOTW's here and there still have moving parts in their helmets, it's pretty cool. |

But it's also a perfect example of exactly why they don't do stuff like that much anymore. It's a big clunky piece of junk that can only ever serve that one purpose and thus probably won't get enough use to justify the expense of making it. Toei is all about efficiency (read: "$$$"), and nowadays it'd be way more practical, ironically enough, to just do something like that with CG. |
