Why everyone suddenly hates Kamen Rider Ghost?
They make comment like "It's all Kamen Rider Wizard again!" I don't get why everyone hate it so much more than Drive's first half Ghost got rid of Case of the week format but everyone is still hating on this show I know many people have problems with Akari mainly she take "Scully" Role too seriously as she doesn't believe in Ghosts and actually outright deny the existence of Kamen Riders which got people or Hardcore Kamen Rider Fans upset by her I thought Kamen Rider Ghost is not Boring like Wizard. I think Takeru have much better acting skill than Takaharu from Ninninger (That Red Ranger who keep screaming for no good reason) Maybe just wait. |

Don't worry, once the show ends, everyone will start liking it. This is the endless cycle of toku fandom. |

You take the few negative comments you read from a small fandom and translate that into "Everyone hates it" which is BS. And you do that all the time, I remember reading the same comment from you about Drive when it was in its early episodes and some people weren't much into it. Thing is: Many people will drop the show early, they will write that down; others will continue enjoying it but maybe don't feel like writing an essay about it every week. And it’s not even like the majority of people is currently "hating" ghost, I don’t know which forums you browse but I haven’t seen a noteworthy amount of "hate" around here. |

I'm still on the fence about Ghost, but something I enjoy doing is thinking and making observations about the show and facts that I otherwise might have missed. It's why I did a play by play of Jetman, Dairanger, attempted to with Kuuga, and planned on doing with Zyuranger. To spur some kind of dialogue and gain insight. I wanna read the essays no one is writing so I can picture the show from another's perspective. |

this is a forum not a school. IMO, if you want essays of saying why people like something, go watch a review or read a blogspot post. and if you ask me, everybody needs to calm they ass down on making judgements about Ghost. we're not even 10 episodes in and people are trying to guess plot twists, character reveals, and plotlines for what probably won't even be talked about 20 episodes from now. CHILL. |

"Is good." "Mhmm." "Mhmm." "Eyup." I'm not saying there needs to be an obligation to explain why someone likes something. I'm just saying there can be so much more worth talking about if people express what and why they like something. Not every conversation based on series quality needs a dissenting opinion, but with the mentality of "I don't have to tell you why I like X," the only way there's anything worth a damn to talk about is when someone kicks down a door and starts spouting shit. Like me with Kuuga. |
Do they design the props or the DX toys first? Do they plan the toy and its features completely, then make the prop, then weak the toy to match the prop? How does all of that work? Do we know?

Also, why? Speculating on how a plot will move, where the story will go, and how the characters will grow and advance is fun. People wanting to talk about what they may believe will happen next. People wanting to talk about how an event will affect Takeru. People wanting to discuss Spectre and how he'll play into things. It's a hell of a lot more interesting than just posting reactionary posts to an episode we've all seen. |

Could be entirely wrong, though... |
I wasn't directing at you, it was more to the vague "is Specter gonna die because he's kinda like Chase?" "is this gonna be another wizard?" "why is the plot so slow?" and other things like that.

Fair enough.

So is it true that the toy sales for Drive where much lower then expected?

On a side note though, in summer, Kamen Rider's numbers were at 25 billion Yen and you had trouble finding Mach or Chaser-related toys in shops on the main street of Akihabara (the only Mach Driver I've seen was 9500 Yen. To give you a comparison: Mandarake had the Blay Buckle for 10000 Yen at the same time)- it still is pretty impressive, but apparently nothing compared to the toys of, say, OOO. |
I guess that it can explain why Ghost feels so toy heavy given how poor Drive did with toy sales. I wonder why the toy sales where low? Maybe people where into the gimmick of the show compare to Gaim.
|
Even Gaim's sales weren't that great in the second quarter. That's why Kaito got a Genesis Driver- he was popular enough for Bandai to hope that him using it would motivate people to buy it (which is kind of a pity because it was the better toy overall). As for Drive... hard to say. They toys are fun and the Riders are all fairly popular. But I don't know how much Japanese kids are interested in cars.
|
So what's the connection in Drive between the cars and the Roidmude generals?
Because Krim said that Heart's power is like a car engine. Brain feels like a car's navigational GPS system. What about Medic? |
I have a really odd question. Does anybody know the dimensions of an Advent Deck holder? Y'know, the colored piece with the crest on it.

I mean the actual dimensions.

How many DX Visor toys are there? I know there isn't one for each Rider but are there more than just Ryuki's and Knight's, even if it's just one more?

They've also made Zolda's and Ouja's DX visors as well.
|
So 5 and a recolor? Makes sense.
|
There's also the Survive visors. I think they made both of those.
|
Just out of curiosity, which Rider series had the most successful and unsuccessful toyline?
I've read that those of Ryuki, 555, Blade and―especially―Hibiki didn't succeed as well as Kuuga's and Agito's, which was why Hibiki's writer was changed half-way through. Sales picked up greatly during Kabuto's broadcast. I'm guessing Den-O was the most successful? |
As I've been told, OOO medals sold like hotcakes and nothing has sold better since. No idea about before then, though.

Ryuki had the best toy sales before Decade from what I've been told. I hear Hibiki had poor toy sales during the first half of the show.
|
Drive was, as far as I know, the worst-selling toyline since Kiva, meaning it hat lower sales than even Wizard. The best in the last few years was indeed OOO.
However, considering how many variations of Figuarts we get from Tamashii Nations, the show seems at least to be popular with merch for adults aka everything that's not in the main toyline. That's basically why Ghost shoves so much merch down our throats. |

And I don't know if the SHF's really did well, from the 5 retail released figures I can find 3 still in stock over at HLJ which is a pretty bad sign, and everything else was Web-Exclusive anyways. I think we can’t really see if Drive was popular with adult collectors just from this, Tamashii might tell us when we see which of the shown prototypes from the event actually see release. |
... SiC Fourze damn it.

But getting SHF Mach IN Japan was pretty much a struggle. I didn't find a single one in the shops on Akihabara's main street and ONE of three local toy stores here in Shizuoka had like two or three of which I bought one. Mashin Chaser is a tad bit easier to find, but also pretty rare. Also Drive Type Speed- I've seen some Wild and Technique here and there and they kinda throw Dead Heat at you, but Type Speed... I think they had like one at Mandarake during the week I was there and someone bought it while I was at the store for the first time and they didn't get a restock during that week. Which is what makes me think they didn't just announce tons of Drive S.H.F., but we will probably also get lots of them (which makes me even more disappointed they didn't announce Medic). |
Drive figuarts didn't seem to sell out on the same rate as the Gaim ones did from what I can remember. Type Wild and Type Deadheat still seem easy to fine while Kachidoki sold out really fast IIRC.
|
Quote:
As for the Gaim ones, I can't say how well they sold in the shops as I have only witnessed the end of Drive in Japan, but it is a fact that Gaim was very popular with the adult fanbase, so we can assume the S.H.F. were selling well. Which doesn't change anything about the point that the Drive S.H.F. have pretty solid sales as it seems and seem to be far more popular than the main toyline- my original argument had nothing to do with any other shows in the first place but was solely referring to the Drive sales alone, so I don't quite get why you brought Gaim up. |
