Is kamen rider drive just kind of the same as W?

In some ways. W was a private detective investigating the Dopants, Drive is a police officer investigating the Roidmudes. They both have a strong female secondary character and I can see, at some point, her beating him over the head with a shoe. W had Kamen Rider Skull and Drive has Type-0. Drive has Mach as a secondary.. and W had Accel..

You know, I think Ryback has a point here.

Aside from the detective angle (Which is used differently, by the by), a lot of those points are very, very similar to other rider series. Strong female who pokes fun at his flaws along with an asshole secondary and mysterious predecessor? Are we watching Drive or Kiva? :p

Yeah its dectetives finding out the case. Cop or the detective finding the case. They couldve had a different idea. Im just watching W again.

But it's a similarity that's taken in different directions.
A similar idea doesn't mean a similar story.

It also helps that the writers and some of the cast that worked on W are the same.

I enjoy them. Mostly because theres fighting and 'splosions and I like detective shows.
