All this talk of Manga Black makes me wonder if this is a backdoor attempt to redistribute the Black Manga!

Think about it. The OG Rider Manga by Ishinomori is about to be released in the West officially. Gorenger already got its Western release. Even Transformers got their due. What if the intent is to eventually get to Black as well, with Black Sun being intrinsically connected to those efforts for the sake of recognition and distribution? The Western Public at large knows only so much of Rider, but a new entry meant to reference an old series which has both TV and Manga connections might help with that issue. Recognition & Distribution in this case can refer both to the Japanese Market & the Western Market!

Black Sun looks like an awesome, refined version of the manga version of Black! Love that they're calling Shadow Moon a Rider!

Again, this is more closely based on the manga version of Black, the design of which looked radically different from the series.

Again, thats why i said love letter to ishinomoris design. They took aritisttic liberties to take the design, break it up, and add a bit more modern flair, also helping the design work as a physical suit to work with.

Not feeling it. Yes, reference to the manga, but just because it's Ishinomori's design doesn't mean it's inherently good :lol

Yea, I fully respect Ishinomori and the impact he's left in Japanese pop culture, but let's not pretend that everything he designed or the choices he made in designing was always great. For god sakes, this is what Cyborg 008 looked like when he drew him. We're lucky that with each succeeding adaptation/remake of Cyborg 008 that we've moved away from this.
