Why do people hate Gou? He got character development!

He start off as a goofy guy but become the darkest, serious and most ruthless of all Drive Heroes! Gou is Mitch of Kamen Rider Drive!

If I were the head writer, I probably write the darkest and bloodiest Kamen Rider and remove any lighthearted moment! Kill off comic relief! I willing to kill off the family!

People are playing safe and not taking risk

And you don't think it's that attitude that makes people dislike this?

I like Gou, but A.) Making anyone like Mitch is likely to make people not like him, and B.) Dark and bloody doesn't equal good, it just has potential to be good. Like everything else.

Don't forget this show is still FOR KIDS, and kids don't tend to like needlessly depressing stories for the sake of being serious. They don't mind seriousness, but they're into whatever shows they watch because they're fun.

People dislike Gou because he's a bit of a show off, is rude to his sister, hates everyone's Ensemble Darkhorse, and that shark bullet effect endears him to very few people.

I'm all for less kiddy humor, but that doesn't mean jumping to the other extreme.

As one of the few people who actually kinda likes Gou:


Gou is not a dark character. For damn near most of the series, he's just goofball comic relief (in a series with way too much comic relief) that just so happens to be a Rider. Him wanting to destroy the Roidmudes isn't "dark" at all, especially considering that for the most part, they've been pretty run-of-the-mill, evil stache twirling villains that don't really command much in the way of sympathy from their audience (unlike, say, Faiz or W).

Honestly, it's pretty hard to disagree with Gou because there's been a grand total of two 'kinda alright' Roidmudes throughout the entire series so far, and of those two, one has still tried to kill them on numerous occasions.

And comparing Gou to Mitsuzane is pretty silly. Those two are nothing alike, no offense. If anything, he seems more like Kusaka.

No he didn’t. Some mentioning of his dead parents or his hate for Roidmudes are not character development. He's still useless.

In what way aren't they taking risks? Kamen Rider Gaim was nothing but a season of Urobuchi not 'playing it safe' and taking nothing but risks. In a way, every season takes risks. New motif, new designs, new cast, and so on. Drive itself is a risk. Being a Rider who doesn't actually Ride anything is a risk in itself. Black RX drove a car but he also had bikes. So they take risks, just not the risks you want them to take.
And your idea about removing the light-hearted moments, killing off comic relief, and killing the whole family? Even Gaim, as dark as it was, has levity. Because you need it. Oren and Junoichi existed purely for that reason (And because Oren is just awesome).

And there was a Kamen Rider exactly like how you're describing. In fact there was a Kamen Rider and two more movies about exactly what you want. Kamen Rider Shin, Kamen Rider The First, and Kamen Rider The Next.

Does anyone care to point me to a good site where they have all of the Kamen Rider Ryuki symbols, including Abyss? Also, I'm having trouble finding the KR Wizard in Magic Land movies/episodes. Can anybody help there?
