OOO also has a rather nice ending. ...Mhmm, yep. Those are the series with the better endings. Fourze and Double were adequate, Gaim's was...Okay, and the rest tend to lean on the subpar category (Well, of those that I've seen) |

I am surprised in my reflections that I can't find an ending that I found flawed to some degree of severly lacking, although I have not watched much of the showa era so I have no idea those hold up. |
Agito has a pretty fantastic ending. You get an unusual final confrontation and decision made by the enemy after which you're treated to a look into what the characters are doing with their lives.
Also thoroughly enjoyed Blade's ending, it's one of the very few I feel lives up to the original idea of Kamen Rider as the "lonely" figure who can never actually be with people. That final scene in the park with the bench is pretty great, I don't think it'll ever lose its impact on me. Also loved Gaim's ending. Sometimes you have to sit back and remember Kouta being a normal guy at the start of the show with normal issues. Even as he gets his powers, he has no idea how irrevocably altered his life's going to be in around a year. Stronger and Black also have fine endings. Stronger was, at the time, the end of Kamen Rider, so to see every Rider coming together was great. It had a real sense of finality. Black's ending I loved because, like Blade, it shows you just how far a hero has to go despite the fact he's going to end up alone. |

Usually in the "Hero sacrificing himself" trope it'll always ends with the hero dying, but not Kenzaki, he still lives, but in turn sacrificed his personal life just to keep the world safe and so that Hajime can live. |
Is Kamen Rider was a better show than Super Sentai?
I would say probably because Kamen Rider don't have an unnecessary giant robot fight which Super Sentai keep doing that for the sake of the children! Kamen Rider often focus on each different character than Super Sentai. Super Sentai always focus on Red Ranger no matter what! Even they got a human villain! Old Super Sentai used to have a human villains but not anymore so far because most of recent Sentai often relay on Monster Villains because I don't know! I bet Parents don't want their sons drooling on a female human villain! I guess! And they have a story arc compare to Super Sentai which they always used bunch of filler episodes! |
I think Kamen Rider has more potential to tell a good story than Super Sentai because there are less things they need to show us in order to sell toys. In Kamen Rider, the collectible gimmicks and various forms mostly apply to the fights and are easy to work around. In Sentai, having a giant robot fight every episode severely limits what you can do. Also, it's easier to work with 1 main character and a cast of side characters than it is to try to balance 5 main characters.
tl;dr I think Kamen Rider is indeed better due to the nature of the two shows. |

Blade is the other series with a classic ending. Again, it's a mixture of triumph and tragedy that serves as a great finale for both the main characters and the story. One of the big reasons why I hold Kenzaki in such high esteem is because of the sacrifice he makes at the end. |
I like the conpect of Kamen Rider better. I like the idea of a solo hero fighting instead of one team of characters. Even as a kid, I like solo heroes better since I watch Spider-Man on Fox Kids over X-Men (I watch X-Men but not as much). Kamen Rider also tend to have a more serious storyline and tone for the most part compare to Super Sentai.

Which Kamen Rider or Super Sentai show that you totally regret of watching from first episode to finale?
For Kamen Rider- I'm regret of watching Wizard 1 to 53 because it was rubbish and boring! to this day, I'm still refuse to rewatch Wizard! For Super Sentai- I'm regret of watching Kyoryuger 1 to 48 because I felt I was watching a Red Ranger show than Super Sentai! This Red Ranger was so Marty Sue! Most of his teammate were treated as his sidekick! I think Riki Sanjo wasn't a Super Sentai guy. Heck! I even skipped Ninninger after 6th episode because I just couldn't stand this obnoxious red ranger who scream for no freaking reason! |
None really. I didn't like Kiva, Drive and Ghost, but I don't regret watching them. At least Wizard had cool ideas and the show had a good start but got worst then got decent again in the last act.
|
I regret watching Decade because it was the first time I got so angry at something I actually had to rewatch it just to make sure it wasn't a fever dream.
I don't regret watching any Sentai. There are some I don't like, such as Kyoryuger, but I don't regret finishing it. |

I'm nowhere near as big of a Sentai fan, but I don't really have any regrets there, either. I think that's mostly because, unlike Rider, I have no compunctions about dropping a show without finishing it. I've started and abandoned as many Sentai series as I've actually finished. If I'd actually stuck through all of Goseiger, Magiranger, or Kyoryuger, then maybe I'd have some regrets - but I didn't. |
Does anyone else feel like Necrom should have been the big bad of Ghost and stay evil? Necrom was an incredible threat, could still get his character development as he had no beef with "Onii-chan the character" and would have been a perfect explanation to why Takeru can't use the Eyecons to make a wish whenever he wants

That would be a bit too similar to Drive though. Hey, let's team up with Heart/Alain to defeat Banno/Ganma! Then at the end we'll duel because Heart/Alain still believes they're superior while Takeru/Shinnosuke doesn't want to fight anymore! We already have enough re-used tropes in this series lol |
What would happens if Toei got a method actor to play Kamen Rider or Super Sentai's Villain?
You don't see Method Actors get involved with Kamen Rider and Super Sentai but what if they actually got involved? Method Actors are the one who stay in character? So just say this Method Actor REFUSED to be in a voice over role as a villain and insisted to be a non-suit villain so he can bring a great performance from Super Sentai gangs. He would ad-lined the dialogue in order to get a real reaction from the actors and willing to do stunt! I think he would scare the crap out of Kamen Riders and Super Sentai gang |

How they should have made Kamen Rider Drive?
I think Many peoples have a problem with Drive because Drive try to be W and it's fail miserably. But I do it better! 1. Remove Cop Elements and made Kamen Rider Drive a Speed Racer show with motorbike! 2. Have Heart, Brain, Medic, Freeze, Mitsuharu Kineta and Tenjuro Banno be the corrupt businesspeople like Vince McMahon that try to screw Shinnosuke from winning the race like what Vince McMahon try to screw Stone Cold Steve Austin from winning the WWE Championship! 3. Remove 2 Part Elements because it's Speed Racer meet Kamen Rider show 4. I would made Chase a long-lost brother to Shinnosuke like Racer X-type guy 5. Remove Jun Honganji as he was the one whom people have problems with |
Your show sounds much worse.
Mostly because out of the problems you counted up only Nr. 5 is really a problem. Drive is a decent show, you can easily make it better by 1.) Tightening up the first half with some better, less gimmicky plots and 2.) Turn the in-your face comedy down a notch. That’s what I disliked most about Drive, the second half was basically what the whole show should’ve been. |

2: Fuck no. Heart and Brain were enjoyable characters, and Banno, while seemingly coming from no where, actually was competent and was the whole reason we had the plot 3: 2-part isn't bad when executed well 4: That's the most overdone cliche in media with rivals 5: source? |

Actually, I'm also curious about something KR fans think. What 'Big Bads' are considered the best, both in terms of plot and in terma of entertainment? I really liked Banno despite him being somewhat controversial due to his menacing colour pallette, his actions and movements
|
I liked Dr. Maki in OOO. I also really liked Utopia in Double, but I don't think he counted as a big bad.

Also this might be the wrong thread, but should a Kabuto Zecter + Hyper Zecter be bought online if you find both at a somewhat cheap price?

I forgot which episode it was exactly but I remember rewinding and re-watching that scene at least 35 times and laughing out loud like it was a do not laugh challenge. |
Do you think Kamen Rider have a better villain than Super Sentai's villain?
Most Recent Super Sentai have a villain who have a 1 motivation, Either Destroy the world or take over the world but why?! What is their motivation behind this?! Kamen Rider usually have a villain that actually have a motivation rather than destroy the world or take over the world for no good reason |
Both have their share of good and bad villains. It depends on who you choose to compare. For example, the villains in both Zyuohger and Ghost are some of their weaker aspects, Zyoh especially. Go back a couple of years, and we have Drive and ToQger, which both have brilliant villain casts.

Could another monster humanoid being work for a Rider similar to how Shin was expect for more PG friendly. I always felt like the idea behind Shin was great, but the movie was too boring for me to watch.
|
Could it work? Yeah, definitely. I don't think we'll be hitting Shin levels of monster, but I think somewhere along the lines of a more monstrous Black and Amazon could work.
It would definitely help enforce the whole connection of the rider and his enemies being fueled by the same power. |
Suddenly on an Agito craze.
I don't know why. :lolol So question time. Who here thinks the G1 story from the S.I.C Saga stories should have been the Agito summer movie instead of G4? To roughly brief you on what I am talking about, there is a short story segment on a monthly hobby magazine in Japan where they tell alternate epilogue or what if stories using sic figure diorama photos. One of them had a side story of the G1 prototype suit which looks like a mechanized Kuuga and goes berserk and the protagonists have to find out why. |
So, I got my friend into Kamen Rider. She liked stuff like Godzilla and the Japanese Spider-Man before, so it was pretty easy to get her into it. So far, she's only seen Ghost, but she absolutely loves it. We're trying to decide what series for her to watch next. She said her biggest interests are Wizard, OOO, Den-O, and Gaim. I suggested with going with Den-O next, since she said she wants more "fun" shows than "dark" shows. I eventually also suggested Fourze, since it's fun, and she eventually decided on Den-O, OOO, Gaim, Fourze as a potential viewing order.
What do you think? Any better ideas of where she should go from here? |
Well, let her get through the shows she has lined up, first, I say. If she wants more "Fun" then Gaim is gonna be pretty disappointing after the 20 mark.
