Which Kamen Rider cliches are you getting sick of? For me is the over use of forms that will hardly appear again in the story and rival secondary riders who are trying to be badass and is a total opposite of what the main character is. What I like about Kamen Rider Birth is that he was a nice and friendly person but he still had his own motivation. I can't stand Specter because he feels like the typical rival character that we had before.

I know Kamen Rider is a series market to kids, but that does not mean they can't improve on things.

Rubber-faced screaming comic relief characters and fish-eyed lenses. I can die a happy man if I never see that shit again.

Not to mention its get old when they end up becoming a good guy in the end (Knight, Accel and Meteor). With Beast, he was a rival for Wizard but he was not a total asshole and was still a friendly guy. I give Gaim credit for having Baron become a final villain.

Knight was always with Ryuki, though. He just wasn't super chummy because of the nature of the rules in Ryuki. He was really less of a rival style character and more of just a hardass, since I think he had basically warmed to Shinji around the 3rd or 4th episode.

As for Rider cliches, I think I'll agree with Switchblade.

There aren't really any other 'fun' shows after that tbh

What movie exclusive forms are your favourites?

Kamen Rider Orga, CycloneGoldJoker Xtreme, Super Deadheat.

I don't like how all Neo-Heisei Riders are the typical "Superman" type personality where they are a good guy all throughout. I would like something like Faiz again although I know a lot of people wouldn't, that's just me.

What is your favorite Rider soundtrack?

Mine is OOO because the instrumental stuff is so memorable and fits the show's themes very well and gives you a sense of adventure. When I went back to listen to the full soundtrack, I was surprised to hear how many songs I remembered even though I watched OOO a while ago. Also the lyrical stuff like POWER to TEARER, Regret Nothing~Tighten Up and Time Judged All is AMAZING. Shu is a good singer!

Black. There is no Rider series that can even touch Kamen Rider Black's OST.

Eh, Black has like 2 good tracks, one of which is the OP. That’s pretty much it. The ending song doesn’t work that well IMO.

I don’t really have a favorite soundtrack because I mostly only like a few songs and never really enjoyed a complete OST.

I don't know if there are any shows where I like the entire soundtrack, but Wizard, Black, and Drive have my favorite openings, while my favorite individual character theme is Necrom.

Did anyone ever upload the raw episode of the second Kamen Rider Ghost Hyper Battle DVD? It's been some time since its release, and I'm really surprised that I haven't found anything yet.

I forgot about Blade's soundtrack. I really liked Awakening (Kakusei), Take it a Try and the two openings! They make for great battle music.

I think the soundtrack to Kamen Rider Black is outstanding. Instead of recurring vocal themes it uses themed musical elements, like a film score. It's also foreboding as FUCK and the sound adds to the tension beautifully. Shit, I gotta watch some more KR Black....

Okay, a little background first on what I think makes for a good final form: a good final form is one that comes with some kind of inherit drawback. There should be some negative side effect of using the ultimate form to both prevent it from being the immediate go-to in any situation and to provide more drama for the moments when it has to be used. Shows like Blade, OOO, and Gaim did a good job of providing these negative consequences of the ultimate forms. On the other hand, you have shows like Hibiki, Kiva*, and Ghost, where the base form essentially disappears once the power-up debuts (stop and think - how many times have you seen Ghost use the Ore Soul in the last ten episodes). So, with all that said:

Best Final Form: King Form Blade. Not only is it a gorgeous suit, but it also provides a lot of dramatic moments during the last quarter of the series and very much drives the ending of the show.

Best Secondary Rider Final Form: G3-X, although it's more of an upgrade than a traditional "form." Again, it's a fantastic suit and its existence is the pay-off of long-running story beats.

Worst Final Form: Emperor Kiva. The poster child for final form spam*. Not only was it horribly overused but, like a lot of things in Kiva, it never really got much in the way of proper explanation. Tatsulot lived in the wall of Castle Doran and then randomly decided to burst out and help Wataru. Where did he come from? Why was he sealed up? How and why did you break loose? Forget it Jake, it's Kiva.

(and, on a side note, I really dislike the yellow gold that suit uses - it looks really fake and would be much improved by a more metallic shade)

Worst Secondary Rider Final Form: Meteor Storm. Go home, Fourze costume designers, you're drunk.



* Yes, I know all about the production issues that led to Kiva using Emperor form exclusively.

Wasn't Emperor described as Kiva's "true" form? If that's the case, it would make sense that he used it fairly often. I actually thought the drawback to that form would be Wataru somehow being unable to control the form. Rewatching the episode in which it premieres shows Wataru as pretty vicious during the battle, especially considering how much we had come to know the Fangire he took out in that episode.

Favorite base suit: This one is a tie between Fourze, Kiva, Wizard, and Hibiki. I enjoy Hibiki because it's a beautiful suit and so different from anything before or after. It works so well for its theme. Kiva's also up here because I sort of see it as the opposite of Hibiki. While Hibiki is the weird experimental suit that has a very lowkey design going on, Kiva seems like an experimental suit with all the shine of a regular Kamen Rider suit.

I also love Fourze because I'm a huge fan of Ishinomori's designs and I think it's as close as we've ever gotten to a Kamen Rider suit with all of the Ishinomori proportions rendered in real life.

The Wizard suit I also find to be beautiful in motion. It's regal, black on red is a great choice, and the flowing coat adds to the action scenes. This is a suit that lends itself so well to the sort of action they had going on in that show. It's just a shame it wasn't in a better show.

Favorite power-up suit: Kuuga Ultimate. It's one of the few power ups that I think portrays the increase in strength and devastating effects it can have on its user.

Least favorite base suit: Probably OOO. It's not as bad as it could have been (Super TaToBa is what I thought the suits would look like when early rumors came out about it being segmented into three parts) but it definitely never appealed to me. The power ups strike me as more interesting in that show.

Least favorite power-up suit: Going to go ahead and say Decade Complete. They had a cool idea with the colors - pink, black, and silver are a great combo, but pink was literally relegated to a couple of lines and then, of course, you've got that line of cards.

My favorite base suit is probably Fourze's suit, I just love everything about it. The colors, the theme, the versatility of the astroswtiches, 's awesome.

My least favorite base suit is probably... Gaim, honestly. Which is weird, because I do like it, I like all the base forms, but yeah Gaim's is my least favorite.

Favorite power-up form is definitely Drive Type Tridoron, I just love everything about that suit.

My least favorite is probably Drive Type Formula, I was gonna Decade complete but... Ugh type Formula.

I tend to like my form changes to look hella sleek. Sometimes they just keep piling more and more stuff on as the Riders get more form changes and it starts to look really awkward.
