How would you picture a Pokemon version of OOO?
Combos: Fire: Water: Grass: Electric: Poison: Flying: Steel: Ground: Psychic: Rock: Ice: Bug: Fighting: Ghost: Dark: Normal: Fairy: Legendary-Dragon: I picture Mewtwo as the "Ankh". |
Mewtwo as Ankh fits as well as a tumor in a body.
Ho-Oh as Ankh. |

Which pokemon would suit those combos according to the list? |

Taka=Staraptor or Hawlucha Tora=...Shockingly, we don't have a real tiger Pokemon yet (Beyond maybe Litten), so Luxray for now Batta=Seriously Pokemon, the fuck? I'd say Kricketune, but no. Leavanny, I guess? I'm actually gonna go against the list, and pick Pokemon more according to OOO's medal line up, because I'm a jerk. Red- Taka=Staraptor/Hawlucha Kujaku=GODDAMMIT POKEMON. Ho-Oh is the best proxy I could come up with due to the rainbow wing thing, but I see Ho-Oh as Ankh, and not the red medals themselves, so...Moltres? Condor=Mandibuzz Blue- Shachi=I'm torn. Kyogre has more of a killer whale influence than Wailord, but legend...But eh, screw it. Kyogre! Unagi=Milotic or Dragonair (Eelectross is a lamprey. "But Milotic is an oarfish!" Shut up) Tako=Octillery Green- Kuwagata=Vikavolt (It's like a one for one~) Kamakiri=Scyther (So clean~) Batta=...Oh yeah. Damn...Leavanny? Kricketune?...Hitmonlee? Yellow- Lion=Raikou Tora=Luxray ("Isn't Luxray more of a lion?" Jesus, stop nitpicking...) Cheetah=Liepard (Because it fit better than Persian) Grey- Sai=Rhyhorn Gorilla=Slaking (Be real. It's more of a gorilla than a sloth) Zou=Donphan Purple- Ptera=Aerodactyl Tricera (Oh, excuse me. "Torikera")=Bastiodon (Since Pokemon likes to avoid being predictable, apparently...) Tyrannosaurus=Tyrantrum Orange- Cobra=Arbok Kame=Kamex! (Blastoise) Wani=Krookodile |

When Human Villains was more interesting than Monster Villains?
Recent Super Sentai always relay on Monster Villains while Recent Kamen Rider have Human Villains but is Human Villains more interesting and more threatening than Monster Villains? |

So Ho-Oh wasn't picked as peacock because he represents Ankh as a whole, for example. I only used Kyogre as Shachi/Orca because it's basically an orca with hands for fins, which was just too close to justify using Wailord in it's stead. However, I do agree that Raikou would better fit Tiger, and slot Luxray into Lion. |

It honestly depends, Heart was more interesting than Banno, but that had nothing to do with Banno or Heart being humans or roimudes, It's how they're written, what roles they've been given in the story, their personalities and motives, etc. |
OOO's combos were types of animals.
Pokemon OOO combos are types of elements. Starter Combo: - Head: Charizard - Body: Blastoise - Legs: Venusaur That combo also has a special ability to go into Mega Evolution. |

yellow=Fighting green=Bug grey=Ground blue=Water purple=Dragon Couldn't think of anything for BuraKaWani My reasoning! Ankh's medals were birds Kazari picked fights with the other Greeed iirc Uva's a bug Other than the gorilla, rhinos and elephants in Pokemon are Ground Mezool's aquatic Dinos are extinct, and dragons are mythical, so eh |

I generally think most of Kamen Rider's most memorable villains tend to be human or at least have a human form: Doctor Shinigami, Apollo Geist, Shiro Kanzaki, Dr. Maki, Heart, etc. |

So I've been wondering lately...is all the posing in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure inspired by Kamen Rider? Or is posing a fairly common thing in Japanese media? I know the Great Saiyaman in DBZ is a homage/parody of Henshin Heroes, and Ginyu force targets Sentai. What else owes something to Kamen Rider's poses?
|
I think a lot of basic tokusatsu / shounen / superhero elements like poses, announcing special moves, and implementing forms or transforming to use different skills all basically come from wuxia books and movies from the 1950s and 1960s. Kamen Rider definitely took it a specific extreme, though, and made it its own.
Unrelated question: do I need to watch Kuuga before Agito? I'm still sampling the different Heisei Riders. I know that the two shows are connected somehow but I'm a little hesitant to watch a direct sequel without checking out its predecessor. |
No, it's only a really minor reference. It's not a sequel series.
|
To me Kuuga to Agito is like Frankenstein Conquers the World is to The War of the Gargantuas. There are some references to it, otherwise you don't need to watch Kuuga to watch Agito.

But Toku references in manga and anime are a common thing, yes. Quote:
So you don’t need to watch Kuuga before Agito if you don't want to, but if you want to check out both you might as well start with Kuuga, just to see how the franchise evolved. |
Why does every Kamen Rider with a supernatural motif like Kiva & Ghost fail? AND Wizard!?

Also, Agito heavily deals with the supernatural, and it doesn't suck at it IMO.

Which series would you say has the best first episode?
|
Quote:
Wizard's first episode is a great done-in-one, Gaim's was really solid, and Drive's is an awesome superhero origin story in 22 minutes. Other than that I don't know what'd even be close. There's memorable moments in plenty of premieres but it tends to immediately get overshadowed by something cool in the next one. Just for example, in Kuuga you've got that whole fight with the helicopter and that's cool and all, but episode 2 is where Yuusuke really decides to be Kuuga, and that fight in the burning church is one of the most memorable scenes in Kamen Rider. All my opinion, of course. |

I mean, that's not the only reason I'm asking this question - it's something I've wondered for a while - but it was what really motivated me to actually go out and post it. |

Also, is the intent that whatever you guys like you keep watching? Because something like Wizard might end up boring people in the long run. I hate to be Mr. Obvious but why not Gaim? It's got the Urobuchi-hype for anime fans and it puts the "drug" in gateway-drug. Once you hook someone on that show, they're hooked until the very end. |

I liked Ghost's first episode. It did a good job setting the scene and getting you ready to see what came next. At least, I thought it did. |
I did a live action day at my Anime & Manga club at my community college two years ago in 2014 and it turn out pretty well. I did mostly modern stuff like Kamen Rider W, Ultraman Ginga, Kyoryuger, Cellphone Investigator Seven and Garo. I also did live action TV show adaptions of Anime and Manga like Sailor Moon, Detective Conan and Ouran High School Host Club. It was better than the first time we did live action day in 2013.
It depends on your club. I remember the first time we did live action day at my Anime & Manga club in 2013, we played the original Ultrman, Kamen Rider X, Giant Robo and Japanese Spider-Man. People end up laughing and didn't take it seriously. |

You probably couldn't ask for a better crowd-pleaser than Gaim. It's got highly serialized storytelling and other stuff like that people tend to like. With something like Drive I think the viewer has to already be into it early on but Gaim actively works to pull you in with all its mysteries and whatnot. Quote:

Den-O. The first time I heard that Ore Sanjou BGM I went nuts.

If you were actor from Super Sentai/Kamen Rider Show and once the show is finished, Will you criticized the show?
Just like for example If I was cast in Kyoryuger and once the show is done, I will say this. "I'm disappointed in Riku Sanjo because I like his work from Kamen Rider W, I felt he really didn't give other Kyoryugers a chance to showcase themselves because most of Kyoryuger episodes he wrote was very Red-Centric Episodes. I know Red Ranger is supposed to be Main Hero but give others a chance! He make Daigo the Mary Sue Character! His only flaw was rubbish! He is too perfect! I think the whole sudden romance between Daigo and Amy was very unnecessary. No buildup and no hinting at all. I think Riku Sanjo is better off of writing Kamen Rider than Super Sentai" |
