Why is it that when it comes to supernatural forces like vampires, ghosts & demons in KR, those themes of horror always end up something "childish"? Kiva was a disappointment. Fangires are suppose to be like vampires feeding on blood! The ganma say they are "eye demons". THEY DON'T LOOK LIKE DEMONS! Garo is always the demonic & the bloodiest.

Also, translations of Japanese media tend to play fast and loose with "demons." Because Yokai can range from women with ponytails that eat people to honorbound turtle-monkeys that drown people for laughs. They're more Fae than "Unholy Angels that seek the damnation of humanity out of spite."

Plus the Fangire all looking like Bella Lugosi would be boring, hence the invocation of stained glass as a uniting motif that is very fitting for a gothic literature theme and the animal forms because it makes everything unique and interesting for the kids watching.

So some people at my flor in my college dorm room often get together and watch a show. So for the average person, what 1st few episodes would be good to introduce to them? I want to do an early Heisei series since I don't think they'll take it seriously past then.

I'd go with Ryuki; it's more action-packed and the effects hold up relatively well.

1st FEW episodes? There's plenty of good ones but I'd wager Kabuto is a crowd-pleaser. HD visuals plus stylish action makes for a show that's really easy to get into. Nothing particularly "goofy kids show" about it either.

I second Ryuki, though expect a bonehead to ask why Knight "looks like Batman, uh, duh, man, am I clever or whuuut?". Blade is badass, too! If you have a group who smoke a lot of pot, you could drop a Gaim bomb on 'em and they'll be hooked.

That depends on what kind of shows they already like. I personally recommend W as a first, but they might like something different like Amazons

Kamen Rider is so eclectic, I think you might want to show a few different first episodes from a few series and let the group go from there.

I actually like the sound of Amazons too but I feel like the first 40 minutes of episode 1 are kind of a bore so I don't know if it's worth it.

I guess Ryuki would be cool but with stuff like wonky CG giant spiders in the first episode I might disagree that it's aged well.

It's definitely worth it, Amazons is the first time they made an adult focused Rider-concept work IMO.

Who do think would be the strongest Toho Kajiu that Giant Kamen Rider J could defeat? I think he could beat most of the Showa and Millennium era monsters. He could put up a good fight against Monster X or GMK Godzilla.

I dunno. The problem about J is that it's hard to gauge his full power from just that one movie. Every other appearance seems to just be "he's giant and about to be one-shotted" :lol

Isn't GMK Godzilla the one in constant "Kill everything" Mode? I think J would be whooped in only a few minutes :lol

I think monsters that aren't beam spam style monsters he could put up a good fight against (Maybe even some weaker incarnations of Godzilla), but characters like Ghidora or MechaGoji I don't think he'd last long against.

Looks like we'll have a Decade world in our hands. In Ghost's World, how do you picture? I can see it instead of "Ghost Hunter", it'll be something like "The Crow".

I'd want to see a Decade style Ghost AU go full-on weird, like the Ryuki world. Like do a world where everyone who dies has to become a Kamen Rider and fight to avoid being turned into an Eyecon or something.
