Oren was awesome. He was a wild, quasi tranvestite OTT gay man who was also a very dangerous military badass - what an awesome combo! Couple that with Durian Arms which is green and purple goofy, but covered in huge spikes and a mohawk (shorthand bad-ass garb). The fact that he ends up as an ally rather than Inves meat was really cool. I definitely expected the "Kill your Gays" trope to be in effect.

One thing that sticks out to me is we've had more than two Riders in every show since Gaim, which really changes the character dynamics. And I maintain Kiva and Decade were more influenced by Den-O than people give them credit for.

But it's obviously a happy ending. If stupid Toei weren't holding Urobuchi's unparalleled brilliance back the show would've ended with the universe blowing up because zomg grimdark, as was intended. Duh.

I can see us getting a 20th anniversary Heisei Rider. Probably a crossover with Decade. We still haven't seen Diend since 2012 and I wonder what happen to him. I don't view the Super Sentai and Spring Movie crossovers to be canon, so his last canon appearance was Episode Yellow: Treasure de End Pirates.

Personally, I wouldn't expect another show like Decade, but I can definitely see them playing the occasion up a bit. Maybe the Spring movie that year will co-star Decade or something. Maybe we'll get something like Zyuohger just did on TV.

I don't buy the idea that all of the Super Sentai and Kamen Rider can exist in one world together. Even the Driver crossover of Ninninger mention that Kamen Rider and Super Sentai are from separate worlds. Even the ToQger crossover with Gaim was never mention in each of their own shows.

I doubt they'd do that again honestly, though if the writer was competent, I'd like to see another shot. Though if they'll do another Decade, it'll be in 5 years for the 50th anniversary
Yes, he was beloved. His popularity was the only thing that gave him Lemon Energy after all. Marika was also a fairly popular Rider iirc, and Zach was planned on getting axed, his actor mentioned popularity saving his ass

I mean I knew Kaito was popular but pfft... He's just so... I really wish I could like him the way others do I guess. Don't even try and tell me Marika was a beloved character, though. She was a beloved concept. What little "personality" she ended up having people didn't like and even her death is basically just a cheap writing trick to get her out of the action so Kouta and Kaito can do their thing uninterrupted. Love that suit though!

Everyone I know irl who saw Gaim also liked Kaito, probably a case of you disliking a popular character. It happens to all of us! I was rather uncertain of Marika, which is why I said 'I remember' as I DID see her get praise
Considering Gaim was our second food-based Rider, (Den-O Sword was also a peach), I once thought of a coffee themed Kamen Rider called Lungo. To which I decided to ask, Would you watch a food based Rider? Or does that concept sound TOO out there

Like I said, I knew that. I just couldn't resist taking a cheap shot there because I'm weird and have PTSD from Gaim. It's more complicated than just "I don't like him." On that note, I'd know about Marika getting praise because I was there at the time, giving her praise. Marika really didn't live up to the potential she showed and I think it's telling she's one of the few parts of Gaim plenty of people will agree with me was handled poorly.

Nothing is too out there for Kamen Rider. They could pick just about anything as a theme and even if people hate it they'll eventually accept it.

I was rewatching some Ryuki stuff and remembered the dumb plot point that Ouja had multiple contract cards. Was that because he killed the Riders that made the contract and got the contract card as a reward or did the writers just pull it out of their ass?

Oh yeah. I forgotabout that. It pissed me off Asakura saved a little girl on a ship from 3 mirror monsters so he stopped Darkraider or Blackwing i dunno from eating the souls of those because "DURRRRRRR HE SAEFD HUR SO HE GUT!"

I can only go on the ones I've seen, obviously, but here goes:

Kuuga - nothing. I used to be underwhelmed by the final fight between Godai in and Daguva, but I think in hindsight, I appreciate what they were trying to do in terms of where Godai is at emotionally at the end of Kuuga.

Agito - nothing really. Maybe make Shouichi a bit more overtly heroic. The fleeting reference to Kuuga could have been expanded upon, I guess.

Ryuki - really play up the war between Riders. Basically really go for a "Kamen Rider meets Highlander" scenario. Ryuki didn't quite do that enough.

Faiz - People having proper conversations. The show would be over in half the time if that happened though.

Blade - Get rid of evil Mutsuki. Just awful.

Hibiki - NO RETOOL. NO KIRIYA. Asumu becomes an Oni.

Kabuto - Tendou to at least show some flaws. Get the Hopper brothers better personalities (best suits in the show and they're wasted on such lame characters)

Double - no Akiko. The only thing I disliked about that show. and Terui's "hen... SHIN!" like he's straining to take a dump.

Gaim - better treatment of Yoko. She deserved a better ending than that.

Drive - a first half that was good.

Ghost - Where to start? Make Onari less goofy, less Igor, no Adel, no Ganmeisers, no stupid Makoto clone plot that goes absolutely nowhere.

You mean the "style" of floating around awkwardly? He does do that in the show occasionally. Doing wire-work like that every week would be a strain on the budget, I imagine.

To those that don't know about him, JewWario was a gamer who teaches English-Speaking audience of playing a Japanese Game.

He was a huge Kamen Rider fan and he even made FamiKamen Rider character! He wanted to make FamiKamen Rider Show but there was issue with money and he was suffered from depression. He unfortunately passed away in 2014.

I think y'all are missing the point. She made the video as a sort of tribute to his memory and thanking Toei for said coincidence in their newest theme. She knows that Toei knew next-to-nothing about Justin But she wanted to let them know that in a sense they have done something that he always wanted to do.

I don't think saying "I don't think Toei knows who Justin even was." is missing the point, the question was whether Toei would honour him or not. As touching as the sentiment may be, that's what is likely 100% the case. This falls in the very minutiae of Youtube culture.

Do you guys like it when the first episode shows how they become a kamen rider or when they are already the kamen rider and just tell the story?

I liked how Kouta slowly but steadily learned more how to use his arsenal in his debut fight, but if that subtle growth doesn't get shown off, Not to mention how not showing it off would just leave more questions for the audience

As long as they present it in an interesting way, I'm fine with either. It was nice to see Eiji's progress as a rider and learn about the Greeed with him, but it was also intriguing to learn what made Shotaro a Rider and what inspired his way of fighting and thinking. Just to name some examples to explain what I mean.

As long as they explain it later I am fine with a rider already used to things. Bottom line, I like both.

I feel the same way. But in my eyes they have to have a genesis episode somewhere, that episode that explains why things are the way they are. It doesn't have to be the first episode. It could be the 5th, 6th, 10th, for all I care. Just have it in there somewhere. :lol

I don't think either way is inherently superior or anything, but out of the ones I've seen I'd say the ones where the main Rider was already a Rider from the start made for some of the more interesting first episodes. Maybe Blade excluded. Who knows.

I may just be thinking that due to their relative rarity though. Shrugs.

I really do think it just comes down to the kind of story the show wants to tell. Blade was trying (and I do mean trying) to create an element of suspense with its first episode for example. The reasons you'd want to do the origin are obvious enough I think.

Here's a great example of each style working well for different reasons:

- Wizard creates an element of mystery around Haruto by having him already be a Rider, which sends the perfect message about the kind of character he is. The viewer does NOT just know everything about him from the start. Dude's got all sorts of traumatic (and not so traumatic) backstory he tries to keep buried as best he can that comes up throughout the show. He's hiding stuff, both from the characters and the audience.

- Conversely, Gaim spends upwards of 18 minutes with Kouta to establish he's just an unremarkable yet good-hearted kid. The show is all about his journey and the audience is very much taking it with him, unlike with Haruto. It's important we take it from the start.

I like it when the Rider already has his powers by the start of the first episode. It adds this air of mystery for me, having to guess what lead to him getting his powers and eventually finding out what actually happened is great. It definitely feels like we have to work a little harder to know our main character and understand what drives him.

Right, it's definitely a more unique flavor than just having the first episode be "the origin story" and I think it also lets you tell a story right out of the gate that'll get people hooked, rather than just going through the motions, as it were.

I don't think Blade really needed to do things the way it did, and I straight-up think it was a mistake for Kiva (even though that first transformation IS really cool) but it was perfect for Hibiki and Wizard.

I already explained Wizard but with Hibiki it really puts the viewer in Asumu's shoes. Both him and the viewer are having the same questions. This mysterious dude shows up and transforms into a demon-looking thing to fight a monster. Who is he? How can he do that? Why does he do that? It really wouldn't make sense for it to be written any other way.
