Yeah, Poppi could be so much worse!
|
What's the worst crossover kamen rider movie you have watched?

If it's for Movie War, I watched almost all of them, sans 2010 and some of Core. I would say Movie War like Ultimatum was a bit tad weird. Not saying it's bad at all, but it's a kind of weird seeing several Ishinomori's returning heroes. But, hey, it's mainly because I don't know anything about those heroes. Genesis was a bit similar to Ultimatum either. I mean we got so many power ups crammed in one movie along with unexplained reasons; Deadheat Drive and Zero Drive!? It's also very conflicted to the series itself. But, the most disappointing is the lack of Mr. Belt's lines there, more on Chase and of course Type Tridoron. It's a bit refreshing to see Ghost earlier on again that wasn't as boring ride as near the end game.
Still, I can't judge too much since I rarely watch spring movies lately. The Taisen movies are actually good in actions but plot-wise, it was quite terrible. The way of the story is too way easy to be predicted, but the actions still make you glued to it. Many crossovers movies have great actions but horrible plot or good plot but mediocre actions. I must say, out of the Movie Wars, I love Megamax and Full Throttle. Really, they have a very great plot and with a full-blown actions! It's rare to see an astronaut-themed Rider to fall in love and a redeeming grape-themed Rider. For my question, do anyone still remember Kuuga's Rider Kick back then? I'm really confused how they could make such a FANTASTIC RIDER KICK like that!? He literally charged in, jumping forward, rolling in the air before those awesomeness ensues. It's not that cool if it's done in big place, but most of time, we saw it in a very cramped place. Not to mention that Kuuga KICKED a Grongi out of his motorcycle!! I'm confused if it's the actor's natural talent or a bit-string wire help. Ever since then, we haven't got a spectacular Rider Kick like that, well sans of course Tendou's Cool Guy Roundhouse KICK! |
Movie War Core was 60% dog shit, but 40% amazing.
|
Worst crossover? I haven't seen all of the Taisen movies, and Heisei v Showa and GP were alright.
I have to say... Wizard episodes 52 and 53, not that it's bad, but nothing to write home about. Tsukasa is in there which is cool, but Heisei vs Showa also had him and that movie had more than one interesting thing going on. It's sort of a forgettable story used to push the P-Bandai Legend Rider rings. |

Movie War Core was objectively worse, but it's badness lies in the OOO portion specifically, not the crossover part. |

No idea what Belt-san was doing in that bush though. |

Also, everything in the Super Hero Taisen series, minus SHT Z, because that one at least tried. Especially Kamen Rider Taisen and SHT GP though, those were just... urgh. |
Do you think Daichi Miura will have a role in Kamen Rider Ex-Aid movies or special?
Mitsuru Matsuoka who sang Drive Theme song play Kamen Rider 4 while Kishidan play Beethoven and other musicians for Ghost Summer Movie It would be hilarious if Daichi Miura was cast to play Ex-Aid's Villain Rider from Ex-Aid Summer Movie! He would be more superior gamer than Emu! Just saying! He does speak English! Listen Excite! |
Wonder if they'll do another monster theme again since Kiva? This time... with separate riders like Ryuki, Gaim & Ex-Aid.

Wasn't Amazons supposed to be up on US Amazon Prime? What's happened to that?
|
They announce the news back in June, things take time. Licensing things are not as easy as they look.

It's possible that a dub may be in works too. It would be a good way to introduced people to the show for people who don't like subs as well. I can see Bang Zoom working on a dub for Amazons.

I know a fair amount of people who just won't watch anything subtitled - the reasons range from eyesight problems, to reading issues (distressingly common), to thinly veiled xenophobia - it stands a better shot dubbed.

Dubbing it would get more mainstream, I guess. But I can't imagine watching Toku without subtitles. In anime, it's much easier to let the voices not being perfectly synced with the mouths not be an issue. I can't imagine though watching actual live action Japanese people have a completely different voice come out and not match any of their lips moving. |

I want a dub because that means I can say "We're gonna watch Kamen Rider" to my Friday friends

The possibility exists, sure, it would be cool, sure, but I don't think Amazons coming over here is anything more than a hard "maybe" right now. Quote:
It'd be cool if it means a bigger audience though. I don't know about full on xenophobia but I've heard lines like "I'd prefer to watch my TV shows/movies without having to read them too" more than once. As easy as it is to call those people lazy or whatever, I honestly think that's a fair enough point. |
Most memorable mooks in the franchise? For me, those roles go to the porcupine Grongi and Roidmude 072(?). The Grongi for being surprisingly scary and having a memorable beatdown, and 072 for how Drive started ti shift it's tone

Those are the ones that always jump out to me when I think Rider monsters, for whatever reason. I could definitely come up with ones I like more in terms of design or feel had a great role in the plot or something but since I have to think about it they're sort of literally less memorable to me. |
Rhino Dump from Skyrider because....Rhino Dump.
Also this one wolf monster from I think Skyrider too. He wasn't that cool but his attacks consisted of literally taking his head off and having it attack the Rider. It was completely amazing. |

Go-Gadoru-Ba (Kabuto beetle Grongi) and Go-Jaraji-Da (Porcupine Grongi) from Kuuga, because they were the only ones to actually interest me from that show.
Pyxis Zodiarts from Fourze, just because he was oddly memorable to me...Dunno why. Wolf Undead from Blade, because that's one slick bike. Wolf Imagin from Den-O, because that voice is too recognizable :lol There are probably a couple others that, when brought up, will likely bring back some nice memories. These are just the ones off the top of my head. |

See, that's frankly an acceptable enough dub... for like late 90's early 00's standards, anyway. I've seen way worse, just in terms of pure audio, but because it's live action, there's all this body language and subtle stuff the voice actors don't do anything to convey, creating this weird disconnect that isn't there with most animation, least of all cheaply produced anime.

"I don't like watching things subtitled" = xenophobia.
Holy fuck a leap of logic so great Superman is in tears. I'll watch things subtitled, but the simple fact of the matter is when you're busy reading subtitles you can easily miss what's actually happening visually. Especially exposition-heavy scenes. |

First of all, I didn't say just xenophobia and it was the last example, so relax - I'm not talking about YOU. When someone says "I just can't concentrate when I'm hearing another language", that sounds like horseshit xenophobia to me - particularly when the same guy (an extended family member) later says he doesn't want Chinese food because "I'm tryin' tuh quit cat! heh, heh". This isn't the only person with that attitude I've met - remember, my peer group is 35-55.

Oh, if we're talking mook mooks and not MotW, I guess my favorite are probably the Ganma Commandos? They're simple, cool, kind of retro in design, and I love how the Ganma in general had a belt/coat/Eyecon setup that directly mirrored Ghost himself. It was a cool twist on the usual "the bad guys' and the good guys' powers come from the same source" plot beat in Kamen Rider.
Also the Dustards from Fourze are cool. Random ninja dudes in a show about space? Why not? |
