Adapt an American Version of Garo
Similar to Kickback's Kamen Rider discussion, you are charged with coming up with an American Garo. You must:
- Use 60% of the Original Source Footage - Adapt it to fit an American Audience - Remember Garo is geared towards Adults for a Reason Because it's geared towards adults you'll be pitching your idea to a table of four major networks. You choose which network you want to pitch to, and gear your pitch towards them accordingly. - Adult Swim - IFC - Showtime - FX (Have you seen American Horror Story? Seriously.) So... Pitch Away! |
It doesn't need adapting. We are adults. We can read subtitles and/or bare a dub (especially if it's done by a good dub company, like Ocean Group).
|
Slap some subtitles on it and blur out the nipples if it's going to air on basic cable, the end. Anything more - even a dub - would be a travesty.
|
How to adapt Garo for a US audience:
Step 1-Look at your source material Step 2-Give up |
The lot of you are killjoys.
|
Sub it. Garo is perfection that shouldn't be sullied with an adaptation.

Yeah Garo would be near impossible to adapt. And it's FAR too dark for our typical understanding of how American adaptations work. If anything I could see it getting dubbed and play on some late night program block like Adult Swim/Toonami.

I have to agree with everyone else. Garo is something best suited to DVDs, not wide broadcast.
It's just not going to work on US airwaves and most certainly not with the limits placed by Sentai. Sorry dude, Garo needs to be free of edits like that. |
