Retrofire Samurai Megazord and Claw Battlezord Gallery
13 Attachment(s)
Bandai's Retrofire line has one thing in common with The Goonies; it never says die. After mixed success as a mass-market offering, the series came to life again in 2011 as a Toys R Us Exclusive 'Collector's Edition' branch of the Samurai toy line. Two new figures in the Retrofire series are the Samurai Megazord and the Claw Battlezord. Like previous releases, each Megazord is a stylized interpretation of the on-screen models. Both figures stand at about 5 & 1/2 inches tall and feature 20 points of articulation ( 4 in each arm, 5 in each leg, waist, and the head is on the ball joint). The Samurai Megazord includes a katana that can be sheathed on either hip and a shield. The Claw Battlezord comes with 2 katana but no other accessories. It should be noted that the figure has the head of Claw Battlezord East but the katana of Claw Battlezord South. Overall, both figures have a ton of personality and the high articulation count allows for a wide range of poses. The retrofire line might not surpass the Super Robot Chogokin figures but it does have some solid offerings at a fraction of the cost.

Okay. Those are Bad Ass. I love the liberties they took with the design.

Sorry guys, something messed up when I was uploading it. Give me a second it here and I'll have it fixed.
Edit: Well, it's not perfect but that'll have to do. |
The stylisation on the Samurai Megazord doesn't really do much for me but the Clawzord is pretty nice. Might pick one up to go with the SRC ShinkenOh if I ever see it.

I really like these galleries that you guys are doing lately.

I don't like that Clawzord. I love the BoA one I have, I love the DX version I don't, I love it on the show. But the Clawzord just doesn't lend itself well to this kind of treatment. The colors scheme makes the plastic look cheap, the unpainted orange legs on the back definately look cheap. But then they do also on the BoA version. The head looks aweful. It looks alright on the figure on that spinning disc, but open like that it looks stretched. Like Stewie in PRS Cosplay. The Samura looks great, and perfect in comparison. But the Clawzord is a definate pass.

I will concede to you that the head looks slightly off, but I still think that the designers did a decent job translating a flat, 2D head into a 3D sculpt. |
I realy liked the BOA clawzord. The only zord from samurai I did not like like was the sharkzord. Everything else was very good for BOA standards I thought.
also where did you find that clawzord. I havnt seen him anywhere!? |
