20 Attachment(s)
IDW Publishing started publishing Godzilla Comics recently and we've got previews for the comics scheduled for release this week:
Mike Raicht (w) • Tony Parker (a) • Arthur Adams, Bob Eggleton (c) It’s the next LEGEND focusing on Godzilla’s fearsome foes. This time TITANOSAURUS takes the spotlight!! A school for telepathically-gifted children is opening and star pupil Tristan is wowing his teachers. However, when things start to go wrong for Tristan, his unusually strong connection to Titanosaurus could prove extremely dangerous— for himself and the entire city he lives in! FC • 32 pages • $3.99 *Variant covers: Black &White Arthur Adams cover! Bullet points: This issue marks the first IDW appearance of fan favorite human character MIKI SAEGUSA! Critically acclaimed Mike Raicht (Stuff of Legend) writes, with fantastic art from Tony Parker (Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?)! Read on to preview the new Godzilla comics from IDW! |
Does the Eggleton cover not count as a variant? Only criticism.
Everything I hear about the Legends series is fantastic, pretty much. Can't wait to finally grab those. |
They can use Miki? Wow!
I thought Legends 2 was only ok, but #1 was FANTASTIC and sold me on the series for the foreseeable. Look at my username, I'm not biased... In general it is a great concept that frees writers from the shackles of Dread Continuity to focus on individual monsters like they've never been before. Seeing monsters under the Godzilla license strut their stuff WITHOUT Godzilla around is a revelation. |
I've heard about IDW doing Godzilla comics but my question is are they any good? I wasn't impressed with their handling of Transformers with All Hail Megatron and just dropped it (and all TF comics)after the 12th issue.
Are they handling the big G any better? |

Gangsters & Goliaths is an alternate-universe miniseries, and Legends are like Spotlights that don't necessarily share the same universe. It's rather confusing but both are most certainly worth the read. KOM gets a relaunch in a couple months too, hopefully coming back much improved. |
Kingdom of Monsters is definitely an odd duck, considering it's their flagship. Lots of awkward attempts at political satire and a main character who's arguably a total jerk. I guess I can see the All Hail Megatron comparison, seeing as how both series started as "OH MY GOD EVERYTHING BLOWS UP AND DIES."
|
Hmmm, maybe I won't start the comics after all. I guess the next time I go to my LCS I'll hafta browse and see if anything interests me.
|
...just read Legends and grab the G&G trade instead. They're both great alternatives.
