Criterion Collection release of Godzilla (January 24, 2011)
 

Just a heads up that the Criterion Collection release of "Godzilla" will be out on January 24, 2011 on Blu-ray and DVD:

Oh yes! I had almost forgotten about this. It's still sitting in my Amazon cart, so I need to just pull the trigger.

Looks like it will be a GREAT release! Can't believe Godzilla will be getting the Criterion treatment!

Jeeze, and I almost double-dipped with the Toho Blu-Ray release.

Can't wait for my copy to come in. I'm glad I skipped the CM Blu-ray release. After this, I plan to get DAM and GVMeg on Blu-ray as well.

Is the blu-ray multi region? Because if it is, I might get it.

Are they gonna do all the films? Cause there are a few I'd love to get...Destroy all Monsters, Return of Godzilla.....

Seriously doubt it. Criterion is very picky with the selections they choose to release. I don't see them doing anything other than this one in this series.

For some reason, Criterion's Blu-Rays are indeed region-coded, and Australia isn't in Region A like the US and Japan. On the other hand, supposedly Criterion's DVDs are region-free? I dunno, I wouldn't know how to tell myself even if I had a Criterion DVD. Since Criterion is releasing Godzilla on both formats, wait and see. The DVD would be better than the R1 Classic Media release at least (extras aside).

So did anyone pick this up?

Wondering what people's impressions were of the release.
