SFX Fantasy Ray Force
This is (or was) a Korean tokusatsu that got shelved for it being "too Japanese".
The plot was meant to go along the lines of a typical technological Sentai/Power Ranger team comes across a mystically empowered hero & a young sorceress. And they were either supposed to be at odds with each-other, or team-up to beat the Big Bad (or both). I'm really disappointed this was shelved, because the initial concept seemed so interesting to me, like if you had a Kamen Rider & a Sentai team in the same show. Oh well...at least we still have this cool trailer: Here are some promotional pics: |
dont bring back the pain, i wanted to watch this so baddly.

I don't see why they think this is "too Japanese" and used it as the reason to shelf it. It's not like this has a samurai theme (like Shinkenger) or ninja theme (like Kakuranger & Hurricaneger). Sure, it may resemble Super Sentai and Kamen Rider a bit, but Koreans have no problem porting over sentai series for their own entertainment, so why all the controversies?

Hot damn that looks cool. I don't see why a series would be shelved for being 'too japanese' but I can see similarities with this show and others. The suit designs are very much like Ryukendo and the bad guy looks a bit like a Hibiki villain.

I'm, not well informed on the subject but from what i understand there's a huge rivalry between Japan & South Korea. I'm, not sure why, but basically allot of people in Korea have anguish towards people & things they recognize as 'Japanese'.

it would certainly help if they got some original designs, as good as the trailer was.
the bad guy looks like a Robo-Hibiki, the other heroes all look pretty generic as well. the main character (im guessing) looks alot like a modernized Battle Japan from Battle Fever J. lose the derivative designs and tighten up the cinematography and this could have been on par with your typical japanese tokusatsu. |
Y???? This looks so good! I love all the hybrids working together. And that mecha is golrious.
|
It just seems rather ridiculous to me that Koreans would accept some Japanese imports like Super Sentai, then turn around and axe their own show just because it somehow resembles Japanese too much. Makes no sense to me.

I just found that trailer in my recommended videos on youtube. It looks amazing. I'm sad that it never aired.
