Considering the fact that we have multiple websites in the network and anime discussion threads throughout them, there are some reasons why it's difficult to make an Anime forum website-
Construction: Tokunation was created last year, but it took several months before then to discuss and create the site. Dedication: Tokunation managed to get started due to people who definitely were willing to moderate it/create it. Kickback was the one who kept pushing for it, and here we are today. If we did have an Anime Forum website, we'd need a lot of people to back it, and several people who would be willing to moderate it. While I don't discourage the idea of an Anime forum similar to TFW2005 and Tokunation and their sister websites, I think we're a long ways off before we can create one. |
Also, unlike Toku, there's an abundance of Anime boards that aren't filled with self righteous or arrogant jerks (Like myself).
You also have to remember that Anime isn't niche. There is a wealth of them, many having entire forums dedicated to just one series (Such as Gundam) with thousands of active members. "Anime" boards tend to fail because, without focus, it's just hundreds of "[X] Anime discussion thread" with hardly any posts because you a quick Google search can yield an entire forum full of welcoming members specifically for that one anime. Toku, on the other hand, while having an abundance of series and franchises, is niche enough to have general boards, discussing all different kinds. |
Yeah I'm not even gonna lie, I joined Tokunation because it was the first one on a google search :lol I mean I'm glad I'm here, even if some other people don't seem so glad that I'm here, but would I have ever found this place if there were as many toku boards as there are anime boards? Who knows.
What I'm trying to say is, how do you make a small general anime forum stand out in 2013 where we already have thousands of dedicated forums and social media? |
