Let's Watch Wednesdays Finale! Go-Onger VS Gekiranger!
Jan has returned from his trip around the world, Dokokugan still safe around his neck, to find Nunchuck Banki!
The Gaiarc ministers have their sights set on the Dokokugan! But they don't just face the Go-Ongers this time. The Gekirangers are here and they'll bring the teachings of Jyuken to the Go-Ongers to create the unstoppable combo, Engine Ken! You can never keep a good hero, or in this case 2, down. A terrible evil will rear it's head once more. Let's watch Go-Onger Vs. Gekiranger! |
It's a shame that Long didn't get to use his default body. I always thought he looked best in that form.
Anyway, it was an alright crossover. Jan was surprisingly heartless towards Sousuke, while I understand the point of the lesson, it just felt odd for Jan to be the one to teach it in such a way. For the rest, it strikes me as rather strange that the Go-Ongers could be doing stuff like playing a piano with their feet in the time span of less than an afternoon. Oh well. Their Engine-ken was fun, at least. I also enjoy seeing the teams interacting beyond being in the same fight scene. While I haven't seen nearly enough Sentai to properly give an opinion on other Vs. movies, I do know the two teams interacting thing is a big issue in PR crossovers. Rio is awesome. Kizaki is awesome. Jan and the Engine Souls communicating to each other was hilarious. |
I think I'm going to skip this one. Every single thing I've ever seen or heard about Go-Onger has made me want to avoid it like the plague.

I've seen this movie quite a few times now. It is my favorite of all the VS movies. When I first started watching Toku, Geki was first and I immediately moved on to Go-On. Their combined change/roll call always makes me happy.
Of course, I do agree that some of the logic is ridiculous and silly, but that's one of the things I love about Sentai. |
I know it's padding and just filler, but I was never a fan of the group transformation. Their suits just show up and their helmets all form in the same way at the same time.
I'm glad they keep their role call, though. |
I kinda prefer this movie more than Vs Boukenger. The one thing I didn't like about Vs Boukenger was the shoehorned conflict between the teams.I find it really stupid when they force the teams to fight each other.Like in the beginning of the movie when they fight just because they're after the same thing."You guys are all wearing spandex and come in different colors, you don't think you might be on the same side?"They handled it better here where Gou and Ken quickly realize the Go-Ongers are on their side.
I also like this one a lot more because it's the last time we're gonna see the Gekirangers together. At this point I have way more emotional attachment the team and to Rio and Mele so their final goodbye left me...:cry Long's appearance was cool, but Super Sentai rule of:The revived version is always way weaker than the original. Nice send off to the team and I'm really,REALLY going to miss them :( |
The topic is up during the daytime? Impressive. So my thoughts on this Vs. Movie
-One thing that really makes me like this Vs. movie is that the two team don't squabble. Sure there was the moment when Gou and Ken showed up late and briefly attacked the Go-Ongers, but they quickly figured out they were responsible for Jan, Ran, and Retsu disappearing -This Vs. movie overall felt like a nice epilogue to Gekiranger. The Go-Ongers just happened to be in the right place at the right time to get inolved. -The training and the Engine-Ken stuff was the usual crossover fun stuff that happens. Pity they couldn't have access to the stuff in the series -The Engines being able to understand the Janism was really funny. -Hiroto and Miu knowing a bit of Jyuken might seem like an asspull, but it kinds works in way that it doesn't bother me. The Wings always seemed to be more competent at fighting than the rest of the Go-Ongers. And if they were training under Gorrie(Heart), their ESP stuff makes a bit more sense now. -Rio and Mele return to life briefly to deal with the situation. Being doomed to hell at sunset doesn't bother them at all. I did like seeing how at ease they were with this. -Meka...yeah, I agree with Mele, to think someone liked him was the survivor of RinJyuKen is rather disappointing. I did like that one of his techniques was during the Gamera flying turtle shell. -Using Long as a powervsource. That worked well, didn't it. -Long semi-returned. Seeing how pissed and seething in anger was truly jarring when we're used to him being the smug manipulator -Engine Beast Grand Prix, nuff said. Quote:

Well, Long being angry does make sense. He spent the previous X amount of years just looking for some kind of entertainment, failing with Maki, then essentially raising Rio to be evil, then failing and, to top it all off, getting sealed forever.
Since his motivation was boredom, sitting around in a ball (Despite it not being very long) can't be very interesting. His last line "I am immortal!" really hammers in how much his situation sucks. |
