Best way to watch Toku on iPad?
I got the New iPad recently, it's been something I've been eyeing for a while now. It's been a gem of a device so far and I can see myself using my laptop less and less.
The only stumbling block is playing Toku video files like Over-time's Kamen Rider and Super Sentai encodes. Most of these encodes are in the MKV format which the iPad does not support. The best solution I have right now is converting them using HandBrake (I'm using Mac OS X) but that takes quite a while to convert everything and it's been crashing occasionally. I've heard using AVPlayer HD is a good way to play MKV files without converting, but I hesitate to spend the $2.99 required until I get assurance that it'll be really worth it. What do the iPad owners here use? Thanks! |
Well, I'd just check up on JEFusion for the latest videos that have been posted. You should be able to make it work with Wi-Fi. If you have a Facebook account, chances are you can watch Kamen Rider on Facebook via Henshin Fever. If you don't you probably still could manage to use his/her resources.

Don't got an Ipad, but I do have an Ipod Touch.
You can convert video files for free using Videorea |
Av player is brilliant. I've been using it for ages... But with tv-nihon subs as I download a batch and throw an entire series on to my iPad. I think I've put over-time on it before and for some reason some of actual subtitles didn't appear, same happened with the tiger and bunnie subs I got recently too...no idea why.
But yeah it's great for tv-n and if you want to watch movies without converting them =] |

Overall, it is rather sad that I have to convert everything to hardcode the subs and end up with two copies of each file. It's really taking up a lot of space. AVPlayer has potential though, and I hope it is tweaked further in the future. |
Here is my method: I store all my movie files on my home computer's HD, then I use an app call "StreamToMe" on the home WiFi network. it decodes almost anything, and has sub capability, it pre-buffers so there are no lagging at all, that's how I watch EVERYTHING.

I might have to try StreamToMe soon, too. |
