Can Jason Narvy ("Skull") save Power Rangers Samurai?
So nearly a year ago Jason Narvy answered the rumor that he'd be going to New Zealand and doing a few episodes of Power Rangers Samurai reprising his classic role of "Skull" (aka the father of "Spike") as "we've talked".
If Skull returns (even for a couple of episodes), will that help save Power Rangers Samurai, at least to the older fans? Having Rick Medina in the show as Deker (and never once paying any homage to his Wild Force character "Cole" the Red Ranger) was kind of a cock-tease. But can Jason Narvy as Skull help the series finish strong? I personally don't think so - Bulk and Spike have been utilized as nothing more than cheap unfunny comedy-relief (save for a few scenes) and hardly ever interact with the Rangers - one of the big reasons they were so popular from MMPR through In Space. I can only see Skull showing up as nothing more than to add another 2 minutes of screen time to the comedy and contributing zero to the actual show. What do you think? |
Yeah I honestly can't think of anything that would be able to save this show :( It's not even that's horrible, it's just very underwhelming as a series.
Also don't forget that good old Bulk actually made to Lost Galaxy where he was basically a bartender on Terra Venture :lol |
What do you mean by save? Samurai is a huge hit.

I think Skull showing up would just be for the fans who was there when MMPR first began, the kids who are watching the shows today have no idea about Bulk and Skull probably.

I meant can he save the show for us older fans that aren't finding much appeal to this show. Which is a shame as the Shinkenger counterpart was so adored by both Japanese and American audiences. |

At this point I don't think Saban cares about the older fan out side of the toy sales. :/ |
Well, if we hear that Skull is coming back, we may watch the show, and we may glance at toys when we're at a store. That's a good thing for the, so...

I think the big question I have is ... are the Samurai Rangers supposed to be secret identity and such? It doesn't seem that way, but at the same time it does. If they are supposed to be secret, you have a plotline with Bulk and Spike to use. If not, then they're playing portrayed as incredibly dense and unintelligent, which is a shame for the character of Bulk and everything his character contributed to the show 15 years ago.

I think it would take a lot to save samurai than just skull, comic relief is comic relief and not the core of power rangers, to "save samurai" they would need to get better actors and writers and not just copy past shinkenger plots, but I don't think there going to do that as the show is extremely successful in terms of toys and ratings at this point samurai is samurai and nothing will change and were just going have to hope for the best with PR megaforce
