This is such a Japanese drama dilema, though. "I pretend to hate you so that you can do what you want." Because you couldn't just, like, sit her down and talk things out? Convince her to follow her dream instead of basically destroying your relationship with her?

So, do they ever actually go into the future?

Once in the third movie.

The whole shtick of the show is going to the past to muck up the present and since the bad guys come from the future, it doesn't come up much.

But if they come from the future already, why do they need to travel back in time twice?

You find out later they were sent en masse from the future to mess with the past/present. They were sent to the "present" to find contract holders they could use to travel further into the past and destroy the timeline. This "lost time" was their goal.

I still don't get it! :lol

It's basically a cycle:

Come from the future -> destroy everything -> lost time created -> repeat
