What's the deal with Musou sabers?
This is a question that irked me for almost as long as I am watching Kamen Rider Gaim. Why do only Zangetsu and Gaim receive a Musou Saber upon transforming and not the others? What determines if a Rider gets one of not?
I can get why Zangetsu gets one, as its established to be a super prototype in episode 27. So it would naturally come with an advantage over the later suits. But it still strikes me as strange that the Musou saber is not a standard sidearm, as some of the Arms forms seem to require one to fully function. Melon Arms only yields a shield, making it almost useless without a saber, while Orange, Pineapple and Ichigo Arms make heavy use of the Musou saber. What are your thoughts about this? |
At first it was becuase of the Japanese warrior era themed that Gaim and Zangetsu got one supposedly. Now I question it since Lapis and Jam dosent have a saber even though they're in the same themed base.

Only Riders with a suitable primary arms-weapon get one. Gaim has a short sword so he gets a longer one that can combine with it. Zangetsu gets one because punching crooks to death with your shield is boring.
For me it kind of works. Although Mitsuzane should have had a Chinese-themed Musou Saber too, because he only has a ranged weapon in budou arms. |

And when Gaim used Banana Arms in episode 13 against Bravo, the Musou Saber still hangs on his belt. |

Because if it is a rider-exclusive thing, then only japanese-themed riders get one. |
