What Countries Is Kamen Rider Available On TV?
I ask because it's popularity really surprised me. I thought PR & SS would be the big brands in Tokusatsu but to my discovery, no; Kamen Rider is. They have more sales & views than I thought they'd have & it made me wonder; who's watching it & where? I was only able to find that it airs I on Japan (of course), Korea & Malaysia. Everywhere else people have to watch it online.
The reason I ask is because I believe a piece of fiction is more popular when it is written well with good characters & plots, which results in a good story. Kamen Rider, from what I've seen of it, has those things in spades, hence it being a huge success in earning profit. If you create a special emotional, personal & satisfying bond between your media & your audience then you will more than likely have your piece of media be a success. That may seem obvious but from MANY programs that I've seen I can only gather it's not as obvious as it should be. But am I wrong in this? Do more countries have Kamen Rider year after year than I thought? Where do I look to find this info? |
Spanish speaking nations that aren't Spain appear to air straight Kamen Rider and Super Sentai dubs from time to time if I'm not mistaken.

Hong Kong airs Super Hero Time dubbed in Cantonese but they're usually a year or so behind Japan.
Same with Korea, they get straight up dubs of Sentai and Kamen Rider shows too, which is why you'll see a lot of the toys over there. |
That's interesting to know. I would love if the US got Kamen Rider dubbed or something.
|
Huh. So only a handful of places actually air KR. Really surprising.

Last tokus shows that have gotten spanish dubs were Kuuga and Ryukendo, of course some early Sentai and Ultraman got dubs too, but that's in the past. Kuuga Dub: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dcZQM7Vugwc |

Thailand and the Philppines should also air it. The Philppines have an english dub, if I'm not mistaken. And from what I remember, Thailand has that sort of dub that is just some storyteller translating the Japanese dialogue. (And they don't remove the original audio... they just talk over it)

Singapore airs kamen rider dubbed in English. OOO just ended here not too long ago.
