I've never watched Ultraman but this scenario seems weird.....

I'm not religious in the least bit but I find this super fucking weird. It's a form of capital punishment. NOT a handy way to store Ultramen.

It's from an episode of Ultraman Ace. It's a great exclusive for those that want to recreate the scene. Ultimately it stems from Tsuburaya's faith in Catholicism. I'm sure he saw it as an arresting image that would create the sense of helplessness and severity of the situation in the episode.
The episode also featured a monster named Barabas also.
