What if? PR cancellation
Disney do the right thing to cancel the franchise ?
|
I'm gonna say "No".
|
Disney cut their (perceived) losses. Companies do it all the time.

Seven, Power Rangers was never cancelled by Disney. They merely lost the rights back to Saban. They tried cancelling it once at the end of Wild Force that was why the last episode was called "The End of the Power Rangers". But as we know it was eventually brought back for Ninja Storm and continued on. In the future, please, refrain from making topics every time you have a question. There is, more than likely, several threads that already exist to answer your question already. If you can't find it, feel free to Private Message me or another Mod and we'd be more than happy to help. Merging this topic with one better suited to answer your question now.

Disney did indeed "cancel" new episodes of Power Rangers, and the production company was out of work in Auckland. MMPR 2.0 was their answer of still holding the license and keeping Bandai of America happy. Their intent was to put extremely limited money behind it and reap as many rewards as they could before pulling the plug altogether. Saban Brands then reached out to Disney and purchased back the rights. Disney did indeed try to pull the plug on Power Rangers Wild Force due to the high costs of filming and production, but it was saved by the eventual EP's of Ninja Storm and Dino Thunder, who convinced Disney to keep the show alive by moving production to the cheaper (and non-union) Auckland, New Zealand. That doesn't change the fact that twice Disney caused the production staff of Power Rangers to be jobless - once in California when they "cancelled" it after Wild Force (only to keep it alive in Auckland), and then again after RPM when their contract with the production staff was over. |
I see where Seven was coming from then. Sorry Seven, further proof my memory isn't spectacular :lol I only knew that they tried cancelling Wild Force, I thought they just gave up on RPM because they lost the rights back to Saban and just stopped caring.

I don't think Power Rangers is going to be cancel anytime soon as long if the show keeps on getting decent ratings and toy sales. We also have a big budget reboot film coming out. If that movie makes the series more mainstream then they will keep the series go on even longer.
