The Passing of Gary Owens
 

The announcer of Laugh-In passed this week. I know, you're wondering why I posted this on a forum for Toku. Because I found out, just this morning, that he was also the announcer/narrator for Super Human Samurai Syber-Squad. Which is something I honestly never knew before. He was also Blue Falcon, Space Ghost, Commander Feral in SWAT Katz.

Amazing what you learn only after someone passes.

RIP Gary Owens. I just looked on your wiki page, and you were in so many things that I've watched and loved.

This is such a tragedy... RIP Gary Owen, you will be missed by many I'm sure. :(

he was in a lot of great shows

I'm too young to have been around when Laugh-In was on and I never even heard of Samurai Squad until a few years ago. I did, however, have the Disney Channel in the 1980s, where Gary Owens co-hosted several really, really great dinosaur documentaries. That was the first thing I thought of when I first heard this news. He seemed like a cool guy and he had one of the all-time great announcer voices.

I never knew his name until today, but I'd always been a big fan of his voice on a few shows.

We'll all miss him.
