CSM Decadriver Card reader errors
 

Has anyone else been having anyproblems with the card reader on the CSM decadriver?

Fine when i got it, but i picked it up again recently after having he belt on display on my shelf and it doesnt like reading the cards. You have to be gentle with it to get it to read correctly but sometimes if you make even the slightest wrong movement it will fail and even play the wrong sound entirely (like when you go to remove the card it plays the insert card sound then immediately error sound)

Any one else or is it just me?

That seems to be a common problem with the decadriver in general. It stems from leaving a card inside it for a long period of time. It's a shame it affects the CSM version as well.

except i leave the driver empty when not using it. could it maybe be caused by collected dust covering the sensor?

It could be. Or it might also be a wiring issue.

im no electrician but i doubt wiring since it was fine when i got it and i havent exactly been rough with it at all :(

problem seemed to be with the button the card presses when you slide it in. Had a mess around with tightening and loosening certain screws and it seems to have fixed it!

I've had this problem with my Superbest Decadriver, and after taking it apart, I concluded that it was the card insert switch as well. That tiny switch seems to wear out or fail to make contact over time. I did a test where I hand slid a card over the reader while holding down that switch with my fingers, it seemed to work fine. Since I put my Decadriver in storage, I can't work on it more to come up with easy repairs for people who have this problem. I have some ideas using nail polish or super glue to make the pin on the card tab longer so it makes better contact with the switch.
