Loved this episode. Didn't expect it to be so story heavy, being about a board game and all.
I've often wondered while watching Ninninger if they'd go into the backgrounds of any of Tsumuji's generation of characters. Do you think we'll ever find out about Kasumi's parents? Fuuka and Takaharu's mother? Yakumo's father? Either of Nagi's parents? Were any of them secret ninja badasses? I think there's lots of fertile story ground here, and seeing Tsumuji's secret history and it's connection with Kyuuemon shows the writers are interested in that stuff too. (Like, wouldn't it be cool if Kyuuemon was revealed to be one of the Igasakis' fathers?) Anyway, I'm rambling. Interested to see where this show goes (and glad to see last week's episode was just a fluke). |
That was a great episode, we finally saw some depth into Tsumuji as a character, we had seen hints that he did have Nintallity but I was stunned when it was revealed it was stolen from him last week, he had seemed so flat up until this episode where we saw some real conflict within him.

I'm glad we saw what happened to Tsumuji's ninja powers. The thing I don't like about Ninninger is the villains. They're so boring, but the Western Youkai and Kyuuemon's ninja Youkai have been really interesting, so I guess that's an improvement. I can't wait for next episode, sounds like some serious changes are going to happen.

I thought in general the Western Yokai were lackluster, they were a great catalyst for the character development for Kinji but other than that nothing really screamed special about them, they were hyped but I fail to see the delivery of that hype. I thought that at least one of them (Werewolf is one) could have been a 2 episode arc rather than all three being a 3-episode arc altogether.
But about this episode, I absolutely loved that we finally got some depth into Tsumuji and saw how he lost his Nintality. This was a strong episode I felt. Probably did more for the development of Fuuka and Takaharu I'd say. |

Well, we had the greatest robot fight ever, and I'm content with just that, really.
