Uchu Sentai KyuRanger Episode 23- "You Should Shield Me!" Discussion
Tsurugi hijacks a TV station, broadcasting a challenge to Jark Matter because he is eager to challenge Don Armage once again. Lucky however is concerned about innocents that may be caught in battle...
As always you can view this episode via live stream on Saturday by heading over to Taima TV. They play other miscellaneous programs up until the live broadcast starts. Live Streams of the Superhero Time block start at 5:30 PM Eastern Standard Time on Saturdays. |
Do you guys think going forward with Kyuranger they should keep it consistent with groups of three to a team to have a bit more balance (pun absolutely intended :p) with character development episode by episode? Here's what I'm talking about:
Team Lucky: Lucky, Hammy, Garu Team Ohtori: Tsurugi, Raptor, Spada Team Ryu: Shou, Naga, Balance Team Stinger: Stinger, Champ, Kotaro |
You know, those three categories actually make alot of sense now that I think about it. Except Team Ryu, since Ryu Commander honestly hasn't had THAT MUCH interaction with those two....
BTW, have yall heard the rumors of Kyuranger later down the line having a huge conflict with the team, where they'll split up with some people agreeing with Lucky while others agree with Tsurugi, and each side will be against each other in a Civil War-esque fashion? I'd be TOTALLY for this. |

Don Armage is a fairly weaksauce boss with his menasters. Even the MOTUs are wondering what they're supposed to be doing. Having a little conflict within the team would be decent to watch. Of course it'll last two episodes at most because we have to go for the big combination mech still. |
I really enjoyed this episode. I'm finding myself way more into Tsurugi than I thought I'd be. He spices things up nicely between friction with the heroes and forcing the main villain to actually be relevant, and his obnoxious personality becomes a lot more endearing when he's literally the only person in the show who buys his own hype.
Lucky was great here too. His speeches work a lot better when he has 22 previous episodes of faith in his friends and looking out for the little guy to back them up. |
I've gotta say, I quite enjoyed this episode. It's probably the first episode in about 3 months, if not longer that I found to be quite entertaining. I'm not a fan of having another Death Worm or spaceship droid thing, but the plot about Don Amarge being dead was interesting as was the revelation that the one Vice Shogun has no memory of his past encounter with Ohtari. Either we have a time paradox situation going on or the person pulling the strings is using past villains as a front.
I can't say I care for Ohtari's personality, but the fact that Lucky is jealous of there being another red ranger brings a delightful smile to my face. (Yes, I know that isn't the reason, but let me pretend it is) Oh yeah, the festival ending theme is pretty damn awesome. What's with the gold dude with the afro though? |
