Today is the 80th birthday to Shotaro Ishinomori. The guy that help create the stuff that we love today like Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, Cyborg 009 and many others.

It also happens to be Goukai Red’s birthday, too.

This month also marks the 20th anniversary of his death. Both Shotaro Ishinomori and Akira Kurosawa died in 1998. Japan lost two legends that year :(.

Shame he died only a few days after his birthday. His work was so great, and he worked so hard he holds the Guinness world record for most comics published by one author!

I love his art style. Fun fact, he was one of Osamu Tezuka's assistants for the Astro Boy manga.

Leiji Matsumoto was born on the same day and year as Shotaro Ishinomori. I would be up for a Den-O and Galaxy Express 999 crossover :p.

Would be funny if that was the inspiration for Kamen Rider Black and Shadow Moon being born on the same day. :lolol
