Best Heisei Super Sentai Thread(1989 ~ 1998)
Well, Super Sentai is finally getting its Reiwa era team next year in the form of Kiramager and so I think it is time to see which team from 1989 to 2019 is our favorites. Since polls support up to 13 subjects I will divide by decades.
*Update. I messed up the thread title so actually you will be voting from 1989 to 1998. :lolol THIS POLL COVERS FROM KOUSOKU SENTAI TURBORANGER TO SEIJUU SENTAI GINGAMAN |
Kakuranger
Ninja Ninja |
This is a tough one, but at the end of the day there's only one show with a giant cup noodle monster.
|
It's a toss up between Jetman and Megaranger for my fav.
|
Gonna be a complete and total hipster and vote for Turboranger.
|
Kakuranger because Shogun Mega(Falcon)zord
|
I haven't finished any of them but I went for Jetman just because of popular opinion, with Dairanger and (the show I will now try and finish) Megaranger close.

Carranger. I doubt there'll be a Sentai that makes me laugh so much ever again. Dairanger is pretty good too, not seen Jetman.
I was pretty disappointed by Kakuranger, so surprised it gets so much love, but each to their own. |
It's a difficult vote, but I will give it to Dairanger!
I just feel as though there is more happening there, with a lot of ancillary characters who have significance and the constant scheming by elements within Gorma and the world-shattering threat of Daijinryu. It all feels as though that there is a lot happening and it isn't all tied down to a scene-chewing Red! As for the rest: - Turboranger: Haven't seen enough! - Fiveman: Didn't finish. - Jetman: Feels too restrained and small, to saying nothing of Gai's character flaws. - Zyuranger: Comfortable and approachable, but maybe a little too "within itself". - Kakuranger: Dared to be a little different, but failed to land. - Ohranger: Lost itself despite its ambitiousness (some of this wasn't totally their fault). - Carranger: "Hitchhiker's Guide to The Super Sentai Galaxy". - Megaranger: An easy Sentai for those looking for some teen drama. - Gingaman: Focuses too much on sticking to a formula; perhaps trying too hard to feel like "80s in the 90s"! Now don't get me wrong, for despite these criticisms, I don't despise these shows, but if I'm weighing this bunch against the backdrop of "Best", then Dairanger takes the win. |
