Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger Episode 49- "My World; Everyone's World!" Discussion
The Zenkaigers must pull together for one last battle to decide the fate of the multiverse.
Watch SuperHeroTime Via Livestream!! Check out episodes as they air on Saturday by heading over to Taima TV. They play other miscellaneous programs up until the live broadcast starts. Live Streams of the Superhero Time block now start at 8PM EST on Saturdays! |
Really, really excited and it's taking all my effort to not just go ahead and watch the episode unsubbed, because I'm pretty sure there's going to be lots of important talky bits >_<!

Decent finale. Could've handled it's emotional bits a little better, but eh. Glad to see Ricky and Cuttaner finally become humans again.
Honestly, watching this made me realize I'm kinda Zenkai'd out. I really hope DonBrothers don't lean too heavily on the returning Zenkaiser. |
Zenkaiger is in my top 5 sentai.

10/10
We punched God in the face, AND beat him at Rock, Paper, Scissors. Couldn't ask more from Kaito honestly. |
I don't care about actually analyising or evaluating the show or its progression at this point, but just that after a long year of having the Zenkaigers, this finale really got to me. The really creative final battle with the creator of all worlds reminds me of Ryusoulger's finale, but I felt the impact of this one way more. I'm sure a part of that is because Kaito's actor is really giving it his all in this one all throughout (and also playing double duty!)
The epilogue where we see how everyone is doing is nice and all, but it's really that scene of Kaito's family encouraging him to follow his dream to travel the worlds that really, really got to me. Every dramatic scene through the whole show has always really landed hard for me, and while I'm sure a part of that is because it's contrasted by how nonsensical this show is most of the time, it's also just that the acting and direction is just really that good too. Gears were starting to come out of my eyes then and there...... As an entire show, I wouldn't put Zenkaiger over Kiramager, but I think just looking at this finale, Zenkaiger's is maybe the most satisfied and happy I've been with a toku finale in a really, really long time! |

......If I had a nickel for every time a Toei superhero team show discarded its traditional leader color for white, had a large focus on comedy, and put the "big battle" in its penultimate episode so the final episode could have a silly way to finish the final boss and a more character-focused epilogue concerning memory loss, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't it a lot, but isn't it weird that it happened twice! And aired alongside each other to boot?!
Anyway! This finale.......Kaito's memories of his friends helping him even the fight against God, the big reunion, the Goshikida family urging Kaito to begin his own journey, it's all too sweet!? This finale hit all the right notes for me, honestly. I think Zenkaiger has a lovely theme, you know. As you meet new people, as you jump full-power non-stop into new experiences, your world expands! and it's a wonderful feeling! It kinda feels like that theme has come full circle, with parallel-world travel becoming a normality and all the worlds' inhabitants enjoying themselves with each other. This show was my very first Sentai, and my opinion probably has some tint of bias due to that, but who cares! Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger is a fantastic show, and a show I'll treasure until the end of time. (I know people were worried about Zenkaiger's ending due to Donbros being a (psuedo?)-sequel and Zenkaiser Black, but I'm glad the fate of the Zenkaigers ended happily, but with some open-endness to it that people can speculate further on.) |
It's not everyday the fate of the multiverse was decided on a Rock Paper Scissors game.
Well, thought's on Zenkaiger. It was IMO...mostly decent. What I liked was how wacky it was, from how there'd be a different variation of the roll call in most episodes, to how the Sentai Gears were used (my personal favourite being Jetman, for obvious reasons). What made it fun was how the characters reacted to the wacky stuff that happened. I love the little easter eggs that were spread through out the show, wether it was through the Sentai Gears or the Zenryoku Zenkai Cannon. Some of the characters like Zocks and Stacy and how different they were. Zocks started off as just a typical pirate, loot and plundering, generally not really caring about anything except his prize. But over the course of the show, while yes, saving people is not his priority, he has been a pretty dependant teammate, often going out of his way to help the Zenkaigers, especially when it came to freeing Haikaizer. Stacy isn't your typical evil rival in the show. While helping the Tozitendo, he only does it for his own benefits in order to surpass his father. One neat thing was the only speck that was good about him involved his mother, when he saw Yacchan, she reminded him of his mother, that tiny warm feeling of acceptance he had. So the more time he spent with Yacchan, the more that warm feeling grew, and eventually decides to join the heroes side in the end. In the end he got what he wanted, a feeling of acceptance. Part 1. |
